Spoilers Robert Meyer Burnett: "Terra Firma" will ruin Trek canon

We've got a "News From Dubious Sources" thread in Future of Trek for just such a reason.
I am hoping for a merge soon........

The a-hole RMB probably reacted the same way when he found out they were doing a sequel episode to “The Cage” and go to Talos 4.
Fair point.....I even groaned a little when I saw they were going to Talos IV last year, but it wound up being one of the season's best episodes for me. I don't care what they do........just do it well.

What if, someone used The Guardian of Forever, and that caused The Burn.

The Discovery crew may need to undo it.

Either way, the source is not a reliable and unopinionated barometer.

I personally think the Terra Firma two-parter are going to be regarded as two of the greatest ST episodes of all time, despite RMB’s attempt at sabotage...

The Guardian rumor has been floating around on Reddit for almost a year along with the CGI Spock and one about a really old actor that appears in the finale and was very frail during filming. So much so that they had to add another day to filming because they needed rest and filming was delayed. I’m curious to see what if ANY of the talk is true.

He followed up with a tweet saying the Guardian of Forever is ambulatory and has a human persona in Discovery. He says it makes it Doctor Who.

The Guardian in TOS talked and had a personality. And surely it wasn't always a worn doen donut of stone shape. Let them change it if they wish. Nothing is sacred, nor should it be. It's a TV show.

There’s a few different takes one could get from this, going from the Doctor Who reference.

Given the GoF’s purpose, it’s likely that we may get an “Impossible Girl” scenario, which would actually be cool as hell, but would piss off the Burnham haters.

Or, as it appears he’s confirmed since, it will be like when the TARDIS was inside that woman’s head, and was able to communicate with The Doctor in human form.

For whatever it’s worth, both those plots were great in Dr Who (the latter was incredibly popular with viewers, at the time). I could see them working in Trek.

He’s being deliberately vague, though, so F him.

Maybe this Paul Guilfoyle dude who is mentioned in the original tweet is the actor that plays GoF. And he could also be the source of this rumor, as it was curious that he was mentioned at all.

This is turning into a tell your parents you're pregnant to soften the news that you failed your math test situation.

If the Guardian possesses a person Idris-style... well that might kind of cool. If the Guardian simply has a humanoid avatar, that actually sounds closer to Ellison's original concept.

Either way this doesn't seem nearly as canon-destroying as "Ephraim and Dot."

Exactly. And even then, Ephraim and Dot was only canon-destroying if you take Star Trek way too seriously. At the end of the day it was a fun little cartoon and a celebration of TOS. Hardly meant to be taken as something that actually happened.

Yeah it's just a fun cartoon. But I'm kinda of surprised they haven't digitally scrubbed the A off the hull, in that Short Trek since. It was obviously a mistake nobody spotted but wouldn't be there, had anybody realised sooner.
