Spoilers Robert Meyer Burnett: "Terra Firma" will ruin Trek canon

I don't think Terra Firma part 1&2 has any thing to do about time travel in the normal since. Georgiou may use the Guardian of Forever to travel in time in the mirror universe to save her son and bring him back. Terra Firma in the dictionary means solid ground.

TNG, DS9, Voy and Ent stayed away from the GoF because Ellison would have sued them if they used it without his blessing, not because it's some sacred, untouchable bit of lore. IIRC TNG tried to get him to write a follow-up but couldn't work things out.

TNG wanted to fo an episode called “Return to Forever” in the second season. Writer Tracy Torme who was going to write the script said in an interview that the episode got shelved because they failed to get Leonard Nimoy to play the old Spock.

I just came here to post it

He followed up with a tweet saying the Guardian of Forever is ambulatory and has a human persona in Discovery. He says it makes it Doctor Who.

The Guardian in TOS talked and had a personality. And surely it wasn't always a worn doen donut of stone shape. Let them change it if they wish. Nothing is sacred, nor should it be. It's a TV show.

All that whining for a nothingburger. Jesus.

Ellison said that he was told by letter that it would be "interpreted as a slap to Gene" to retcon such an episode (the idea was that they would go back and save Keeler), then was told by phone that they didn't want to do it as they'd just had Nimoy in Unification.

It has certainly built up the anticipation for the episode. 5 minutes after his tweets I can imagine him calling someone on the phone and saying "It's done you bastard!" Kurtzman is on the other end of the phone. "Thank you for getting people interested in the episodes! I will now return to you your beloved pet dog to you unharmed just as I promised, but remember. I am THE Kurtzman. I can get to him or you anytime I wish. I may call on your "service" again someday so this stays between the two of us." and hangs up and has a evil laugh.

Interesting idea. Honestly, revisiting the Guardian is one bit of fan service idea that I don't mind, largely because of reading A.C. Crispin's book "Yesterday's Son" where Spock needs to go back in time. The Guardian is the only way to return to Sarepidon's past. Interesting novel with politics of the Guardian planet also interesting.

They've made it the TARDIS?

Just think. When Kirk and the rest were on the planet they thought they were talking to the ring, when in reality their was just some speaker connected to it and instead it was some guy hiding behind some of those rocks looking on and talking to them through the speaker.

LOL. They should totally show that. Trials and tribbleations style, cgi adding the humanoid guardian.
