Spoilers The Mandalorian season 2 discussion

It can be both. Maybe after Gideon loses his work is smuggled to the first order.

Shrug.

They'd be best to just leave the ST and especially TROS alone, given it's decidedly, ahem, "mixed" reaction.

Heck, the lego holiday special didn't even mention the Palp clones or Rey's connection to Palpatine and special was all about the ST characters. TROS is the worst! :D

That was a great episode. Loved the action and I got major New Hope and Return of the Jedi vibes watching that. I also appreciate I have another week to go further into Clone Wars to find out more about Ahsoka, who is very very young in the episodes I'm watching (I'm on episode 5 I think, just got done watching the Melevolence storyline).

They're not ignoring TROS, they've been slowly filling in more of the details around Snoke and Palpatine's resurrection in some of the books that have been coming out. Hmm, now that I mention that, I can't help but wonder if perhaps all of the new information they've been releasing has been a subtle set up for more detailed information being revealed here.
How certain is it that Ahsoka will be showing up next week? After this week, I can't help but wonder if we might have at least one or two more stops before we actually reach the planet she's on.
Oh, and I forgot to mention before that I loved Cara's new little meerkat/ferret pet. So glad she stopped the Aqualish before they at it.

Certain? Not at all. But informed supposition. Next week's episode is being directed by Dave Filoni. Creator of one Ahsoka Tano. It makes so much sense to have her live action debut directed by the man who brought the character to the Clone Wars, and has shepherded her through her life in the SW universe.

I saw at least one rumor today that next week's episode is titled "The Jedi," but I never did see a source on that. Could be the internet being trolly again, I can't say.

There's a massive difference between books and filmed media. The former appeal to only a tiny niche audience.

And even then, TROS tie-in books will soon be a thing of the past.

I honestly think Disney is going to be moving away from the ST. It's a closed loop. It's not an era in the franchise that lends itself to spinoffs or midquels or side stories or anything like that.

That is one aspect that I like about Mandalorian, despite its other features is how they are fleshing out different facets before the ST. I appreciate that.

The soundtrack for the first four episodes of season 2 released today (a bit easier on the wallet than releasing a complete album for each episode individually). Interestingly, the music for the closing scene of today's episode on Gideon's ship has a composition credit to John Williams along with Ludwig Göransson. I don't recognize the leitmotif being quoted, though. It's also possible there's a typo in the metadata, and that notation was supposed to be put one track earlier, which is the scene mentioned up-thread that seemed to quote Snoke's theme when the team found the vats in the Imperial base.

Uh... in the More Space Travel Shenanigans department, why didn't Djarin just jump right to Corvus at the end of last week's episode?

On an unrelated note:
It seems like Disney is still following its unspoken mandate to never say the word "midichlorian", but they said "M-count", so...

I was more amazed when I realized this episode took place over a few hours, at most, and that fully encompassed the lengthy rebuild period for the Razorcrest. One, that's at least half the time it took the Mon Calimari dockworker to re-rig it as a sloop or whatever he was doing with all those lines in the first place, and two, Greef's entire pitch on getting Din to help them scuttle the Imperial base was that he'd have plenty of time to kill waiting for his ship to be repaired. Christ, Mando, just read a book or something. See a movie. The Star Wars universe is so action-packed that the prospect of five hours of down-time is more than enough window to plan, execute, and escape from a daring raid on a base full of die-hard fascist holdouts?

I feel like time compression is becoming a bit of a problem in genre fiction. People have stopped editing stories so days worth of action can be communicated in an hour or two, and started implying that days worth of action actually happened within an hour or two.

I meant to bring it up last week, but I like how the music for Bo-Katan et al had a very synthy sound in contrast to the Mando's usual natural woodwinds. Given the kind of artist Göransson appears to be, I would not be shocked if that was meant to be a musical reference to the Mandalorian glass & crystal cubist aesthetic sensibilities.

I didn't spot the Snoke theme (though, can't say as I can remember what it even sounds like!) I could have sworn however that there was a little of the Jyn Erso theme in the conversation between Cara and the New Republic officer.

Honestly, it wasn't supposed to be that big of a mission, so I can see Din feeling like it would be brief. He also is not wanting to sit for too long, as plainly evidenced throughout. So, yeah, 5 hours probably feels way too long.

I didn't either, after reading about it and revisiting this episode. I was curious to see if a character that looked like "Blue" (the Republic officer) was part of Rogue One at all in the background or something.

Honestly, this last episode genuinely impressed me. Mandalorian leveled up in my Star Wars list to actually enjoyable throughout. Good job.

Meerkat might have originally breathed fire but was cut. One of aliens below ends up with severe face burns with no real reason, and the concept art shows it breathing fire on one of them.

And the current Vader comic run has the sith assassin that killed Rey’s parents in a flash back, and who’s body they find when trying to find the sith dagger.
I do HOPE she shows next week. Odd since Asoka always says "I'm no Jedi" to have her episode called "The Jedi".
Bo called her a Jedi, Dyn thinks she’s a jedi, and he’s trying to find Jedi.

March of the Resistance is quoted in one of the tracks.

If Luke is ever introduced, the episode should be called, The Stranger.

For whatever reason I've been assuming they won't go there, but how would they do it? CGI? Hamill is too old to play Luke in this time period and a recast would suck.

Why? Shouldn’t Luke be in the process of having his Jedi Academy open at this point?
I don't think so. The impression I got was that he didn't start it until Ben was something like 12 (most likely at Leia's urging) so that's about 7 years out at this point. Right now he's probably still wandering the galaxy looking for relics and knowledge of the Order.

Of course it's entirely possible that Luke and Ahsoka never met and are both basically doing the same thing, so Ahsoka could be running her own little temple of sorts.
At the very least I suspect she's running a sanctuary for orphaned force sensitives, like those two babies they rescued from the Inquisitorious. If we see a 10 year old human red head running around with a similarly aged Ithorian child next episode, then you can call that idea confirmed! ;)
