Spoilers The Mandalorian season 2 discussion

We don't know if those droids/suits are for the cloning project yet.

Look at the necks, there are pipes/wires and things going into the head.

Also the project isn't working yet

Even if they are armour, there's probably nothing in them yet, because the doctor said the project still isn't working in a message that was only 4 days old, and they need to get the Child back for more blood.

So I think we're seeing two different projects here.

As someone who watched Z Nation, it's been good to see Katy O'Brian bouncing between properties I watch from Walking Dead to Black Lightning, Agents of SHIELD, Westworld and now this. Always bit parts but welcome. Similarly, it's nice to see old friend Carl Weathers again as well.

The stormtroopers actually hit something! Mando should be ashamed... Seriously though, I do like they way he sometimes blusters and blunders through his adventures like Jack Burton in Big Trouble in Little China.

Wow, great episode.
After a season and half we finally have an explanation for what the Empire wants with The Child. It hadn't occured to me that this could be tied to cloning Paplatine, but that would make sense. I had just assumed they were trying to give non-Jedi the ability to use the Force.

People are telling me that the audio description track for the episode called them Dark Troopers. I'll have to check it myself.

It would make sense that they’re Dark Troopers. At first, I thought it was Snoke. Then Palps. Then when I saw the armor, the old Dark Troopers came to mind. Pulling stuff from the early Lucasarts games. I like it!

Yeah and looking closer, the elbow joint looks like it's right off of K-2SO's design. Straight-up Dark Troopers it is then!

It makes sense they'd being going for both battle droids and clones though. Their supply of Stormtroopers must be getting VERY low by now.

ETA: I thought that that Imperial bridge officer looked familiar so I looked her up, and sure enough she was in The Walking Dead, 'Black Lightning' and the last season of Agents of SHIELD. That last one probably isn't a coincidence given this show and that share a casting director. Also probably how May, Blake and Bakshi also showed up.
Apparently her background is martial arts, so it's possible we'll be seeing that character get into a scrap with Mando and/or Cara later on.

There was this phase of Dark Trooper in Legends which were cyborg enhanced Republic/Imperial clone troopers.\

That imperial inspecting the Suits/Droids at the end, has the Legends logo for the 'Imperial Department of Military Research' on his outfit.

So if Greef and Cara had just told Appa about what they found, would the New Republic have taken action and the sequel trilogy never would've happened?

They could be Spacetroopers only in black armor instead of white as we saw in the old EU.

ETA: Okay, just read the description in the onscreen narration.

I seriously hope this has fuck all to do with Palpatine and Snoke. No reason it has to connect at all, it could/should just be an entirely separate initiative by Gideon to create Force sensitives (or even give himself Force powers.)

It can be both. Maybe after Gideon loses his work is smuggled to the first order.

Yeah, it just sounded like generic baby sounds to me too.

I wouldn't mind if it was connected, it would give us a nice little bit of extra back story to Snoke or Palpatine's return. I've been expecting them to eventually connect the Mandalorian to the wider Star Wars universe and Skywalker Saga at some point. We've already gotten a bit of that with Bo-Katan, and possibly Ahsoka, so tying it more tightly into the Saga would make sense.
StarWars.com has revealed a series of new international the Mandalorian Season 2 posters in a new art project called This is the Way. The project featured a group of artists from around the world who each created their own poster featuring the phrase "this is the way" in their native language.

I liked this one. Good action, and I like where they're taking Gideon's plot. My first thought from the lab was Shadow Troopers, but the scene with Gideon screams Dark Troopers. Which I am totally ok with, as I absolutely love the Dark Trooper concept.

My first big takeaway from this one: our first ever, live action Arquitens class light cruiser. One of my favorite designs from The Clone Wars, also heavily featured in Rebels. We only got the brief ventral shot here, but it looked good.

And we've now seen everything that appeared in the trailer. Which means we've seen not even a single second from the back half of the season. Might have just been that was the footage they had prepared when it was trailer time. Or maybe they are hiding something. Or someone.

I think we all know who we're expecting next week. It's Ahsoka time.

Oh a Light Crusier "in the flesh"! sweet!!
Give it about a 7, was laughing a good part of it, especially at BY.
Good setup to next week, and we got some good explanation going.
As for the troopers, there probably droid/orgainic hybrids... and they have a Plan.. (waits patiently for the Tricia Helfer design..)
