    Speed of the plot.

Or perhaps needing opposable thumbs to operate the warp drive (or whatever FTL device Book's ship has).

I can't believe it. I was right and wrong at the same time. Discovery wasn't destroyed and now it's been rebranded the Discovery-A.

This also reinforces the idea that the Enterprise-A wasn't a brand-new ship in the TOS Movies. Which is most likely why it was really decommissioned after only seven years. And why it was "ready" so soon after the original was destroyed.

I’m down with the thumb theory.....but is there any FTL travel? I thought that’s why The Burn was a big deal.

A total aside, but I wonder if anyone has asked Starfleet to contact that lonely dude on the broken station waiting for his entire life for a signal.

After thinking about it, it is somewhat jarring that Saru and Vance all blame Burnham's recklessness on her obsession with the Burn and not the relationship with Book (which I guess they didn't put together). Book was the one who pursued the black box without Burnham knowing. Burnham's desperation was from Book being gone for 3 weeks and obviously in trouble. That this personal relationship wasn't mentioned at all at the end is very jarring.

Vance: Ok Burnham, I have totally got to see this guy. Must be a hunk for you to willingly throw yourself into a court martial over huh? Ok I pulled up his file. Gee, why does he look like Manchester Black from that ancient 21st century Earth series Supergirl?

Saru: What do we do with Burnham now?

Vance: I'm feeling nice today. No court martial, no brig, not even a demotion. Once she's undergone what I have planned for her, she won't even remember who Cleveland Booker is.

Saru: Starfleet does forcible brain alterations and memory erasures now?

Vance: You must have spent way too much time with Section 31 back in the 23rd century, Saru. We were going to add this to Discovery during the refit but didn't get around to it yet. Lt. Willa, Burnham is to be confined to Holodeck 5 for 48 hours. She's allowed to simulate whatever she wants except this Supergirl villain lookalike.

They upgrade the ship but not their uniforms? That makes no sense.
Did Book get his ship from Cybertron or something?

From Q&A, the Enterprise already had different uniforms from the rest of the fleet 3 years before they were distributed to everyone else, so it's not new.

Poor Sahil. I thought we'd see him more than we have.

Yes but they period specific uniforms. I doubt any branch of Starfleet is using a 700 year old uniform still

Even Vance thought forcing 32nd century Star Trek The Motion Picture style uniforms on Discovery was too cruel.

I agree with this assessment. Despite Burnham being raised on Vulcan she still is highly emotional and driven by strong personal convictions, to the point of obsession. In this instance, I think it is an understandable coping with intense trauma and struggle the whole crew is going through.

I agree they’re not the best looking uniforms but not making them change to makes them stand out more when they should be fitting in.

Since Discovery is now the rapid response vessel perhaps its like an EMT type uniform.

Nillson has been functioning as second officer all season. It should be her. Neither Culber or Stamets are in the chain of command.

That one dude had 40 years to spend waiting to hang up a flag. Seems like this would have been a better use of his time.

I might be mistaken but I thought that Book's ship was travelling FTL in the first episode of the season.

There's FTL travel, just at short range. We wouldn't even have the interstellar travel we have seen without it.

Also why are baryon sweeps still a thing? I would think they would be outdated, plus with the small amount of warp going on anyway are they even needed? I don't remember Voyager getting a baryon sweep in 7 years in the delta quadrant.

Can anyone grab a screenshot of that 24th Century phaser they find?

Yes it was using warp drive. That why they went to that market, to buy dilithium.

I don't know. They both have important duties, already. Maybe a woman but who? Tilly? After all, she was a captain in the alternate universe, so why not here be number one?

How about the lizard guy who keeps beaming in the wrong place? Maybe he could be a number one, as long as he doesn't sneeze....
