The sooner time travel is eliminated from Trek the better.I see no reason to think they're lying, and I see no reason why they would use time travel anyway. That would be the most boring, dumbest way to resolve the conflict.

Haha.. oh wait, you’re serious? Like no time travel, ever?! That’s a little harsh, some of the best Trek episodes ever, were time travel related. The sooner time travel is eliminated from Trek the better.

Then fix everything.I prefer Time Travel. If you can fix it, why not?
The amount of lives you can save by preventing "The Burn" would be astronomical.
I would if I could.Then fix everything.
I know you would.I would if I could.
This is why we have DTI (Department of Temporal Investigations) so that they can investigate the down stream effects of time travel and make a call as to whether certain time travel events were good / bad for the UFP. That's why Janeway's Time Travel shenanigans at the end of the series is allowed to stand and all of Kirk's Time Travel shenanigans are kosher.I know you would.
This is why in universe I wish time travel wasn't a thing. That's the incredibly tempting power of time travel is to go back and fix everything. I find the idea of just fixing the Burn to be rather disingenuous with things like the Dominion War or the Romulan Supernova being large cataclysms as well.
Yeah, I find that hard to believe. This is why we have DTI (Department of Temporal Investigations) so that they can investigate the down stream effects of time travel and make a call as to whether certain time travel events were good / bad for the UFP. That's why Janeway's Time Travel shenanigans at the end of the series is allowed to stand and all of Kirk's Time Travel shenanigans are kosher.
Yet all of Kirk / Janeway's Time Travel shenanigans stand without it getting "Undone".Yeah, I find that hard to believe.
I'm not disagreeing with you in what we know from canon. I'm disagreeing about DTI's abilities to police so effectively and yet the Burn somehow would be acceptable while stopping the Dominion War would not.Yet all of Kirk / Janeway's Time Travel shenanigans stand without it getting "Undone".
StarFleet brass gave Benjamin Sisko the "OK" to mine the Wormhole to prevent further Dominion Reinforcements, that triggered the war.I'm not disagreeing with you in what we know from canon. It's why I hate time travel. It's cherry picking problems for solving.
Cool.StarFleet brass gave Benjamin Sisko the "OK" to mine the Wormhole to prevent further Dominion Reinforcements, that triggered the war.
In the end, StarFleet felt that war was inevitable with the amount of reinforcements that Dominion were bringing in and they did something about it. StarFleet and it's allies won and DTI doesn't want to change the victorious outcome. StarFleet never saw a way out of a bloody war in the case of the Dominion without subjugating itself underneath the Dominion Boot. That wasn't acceptable. So the only option was to fight and in the end StarFleet and it's allies won.
Which other cataclysms has the UFP faced that is as severe as "The Burn"?I don't agree and don't trust DTI but I'll leave it at that. It's still cherry picking for the sake of cherry picking. The Burn isn't the only cataclysm the Federation experienced.
The Borg. The Romulan Supernova. The Xindi attack. The Dominion War (which apparently as long as we win it's totally OK for people to die).Which other cataclysms has the UFP faced that is as severe as "The Burn"?
We still managed to repel the Borg. The Borg. The Romulan Supernova. The Xindi attack. The Dominion War (which apparently as long as we win it's totally OK for people to die).
