What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

They were learning as the films progressed. The only jibe I remember from TUC was the crack at the end about not being arrested "for having feelings." Admittedly, it's been quite awhile since I saw it last, so there were probably more, I just don't remember them.

In TFF McCoy calls Spock "a green-blooded Vulcan" around the campfire. Admittedly he had been drinking a little but the insults when slightly angry were the same.

McCoy was both a product of his time, and a product of his upbringing. I think it's fair to say that McCoy being raised in Georgia accounts for a lot of his overt racist behavior, especially toward Spock.
Maybe the next time you're railing against examples of fictional racism, you could do it without the implication that everyone from Georgia is automatically a racist.

Also the silly idea that people from Georgia (or anywhere in the world) in the 23rd century would be the same as mid-20th century stereotypes of them, is rather silly.
It would be nice if we could get away from stereotyping in general.

Unfortunately media often re-enforces stereotypes (whether on purpose or not). Which is the main reason why there's so much discussion about it and negative/positive representation right now.

I am quite aware which is why I am often very reluctant to share my true feelings on matters for fears of being stereotyped. It's frustrating.

Oh I didn't mean to imply that you weren't (you strike me as someone who is aware of those problems) I just wanted to add to what you said.

If you don't like my posts, put me on ignore. And since you never seem to respond positively to anything I have to say, I think it's fair to say you don't like my posts.

As for Georgia, it's part of the southern US, which has a history that it will probably take another three hundred years to outgrow, as a region. Maybe you could put forth some effort to hasten that instead of attacking me for some imagined personal slight.

To get back to how they could translate the conflict between McCoy and Spock into a theoretical reboot:

I think that they could clash both over McCoy perceiving Spock as "cold" and...well...if they make it clear that Spock tries to present himself as "better" than humans on accord of his Vulcan half, then they could make that a conflict ball as well.
But instead of "you green blooded hobgoblin" or the like it would be more along the lines of "You're one of us too, quit acting like you're better!"
I think that would be a reasonably good translation of their dynamic into modern storytelling.

I'm sure by the 23rd century there'll be all new stereotypes. Which are just as inaccurate.

And in-universe it likely doesn't help that for most of the first century after mankind broke the warp barrier the Vulcans were seen as an impediment to Earth's exploration of space and stubborn know-it-alls.

My controversial Trek opinion: Gul Dukat was underutilized as an anti-hero, and overutilized as a moustache-twirling villain.

Agreed. Dukat was far better when it was hard to understand his motivations and where he stood. It was a mistake to transition him to just “clear-cut bad guy.” Season 1-5 Dukat is maybe Trek’s best, most complex villain

Controversial Opinion:

Wesley Crusher isn’t nearly as annoying as many make the character out to be. In fact, he’s not even the worst TNG character.

He had annoying moments, but most of them did at some point. My only issue with Wes was how often he seemed to wind up saving the ship.

But wasn't that mostly season one? Like the only episode post-Season 1 (that I can remember right now) I which Wesley saves the day is that "Game" episode where he saves the Enterprise from a crappy freemium mobile game. I might be forgetting some, but point is it wasn't pronounced after season 1and at that point every character got to save the day on occasion.
