I'm really thinking that Detmer is dealing with PTSD
I hope so. Anything other than “Control taking over her” would be acceptable.

The original writer idea of "we don't need to show the department heads" was pretty inane to begin with.
Just a thought: are there any senior (LCDR or CDR) engineering or medical badges on Tilly's wall of remembrance that might hint at senior officers in those departments lost along the way...?
One throw-away line from Culber in a log entry or other dialog noting that he's now the most senior medical officer on the ship (and maybe something about the weight of responsibility he now feels) would at least clear up the current situation, even if it can't address the inconsistencies of the previous seasons -- unless of course they do actually fully intend that the Commander played by Jason Deline is, in fact, still there in the background and that he is the CMO...
I understand the desire to avoid making the main cast and the starship's roster the same thing, but the execution of the idea left much to be desired, particularly the manner in which they just stubbornly refused to show the CMO and the chief engineer at all. Despite having engineering being a major set piece for the show and having a medical officer who fills all the narrative functions of the CMO anyway. Really, the way Lower Decks handled it was better, we know who all the senior officers on the Cerritos are, but they aren't all in the main cast. The original writer idea of "we don't need to show the department heads" was pretty inane to begin with.

I really had to look hard to see their spots.
So handsome, nicely filled out his uniform but not brave... BummerHe probably left the ship before it did the time warp

Sounds like (no pun intended) we're goin to hear the Trill language this episode, and the Barzan language in a later episode.

Edit: Oh huh this guy created the Belter language for The Exapnse.
Also im getting a little confused about the size of the crew now. Has almost everyone stayed on because the end of season 2 made it feel like it was just the main cast staying on the ship

I watched Equilibrium, Dax, and The Host in anticipation for this episode. Did I forget any important Trill episodes?

Y’all are telling me that Pollard isn’t the CMO?! I assumed she was. I really like her wry, laconic manner, it is very like a number of the doctors I’ve known. Similarly, I assumed Reno was now the chief engineer? Don’t department heads get invited to staff meetings any more?![]()
