Spoilers Black Lightning - Season 3

At this point, they exist in a larger universe, where the events of the back part of the season couldn't happen. The showrunners are irrelevant in the context of the existing universe.

They created and run the series. Its their vision, and one that would probably cause creator uproar (to the media) if their unique voice was upended all to shove this series in with undeniably weaker shows that do not have a trace of the drama or cultural awareness of this series.

At no point does asking for help make the title characters look weak.

Then you're missing one of the key points of the show: black characters (and a couple of non-black allies) being all about self-determination as black superheroes.Even after being officially recognized at the hearing, their life and identity fights continue. Having some watery crossover only makes the Freeland characters appear as if they--after the past three seasons--have not grown, Jennifer (and maybe TC) in particular.

I think there is a lot of leeway in how the Amazons are presented. For example, Wonder Girl from the Titans would not be out of place on Black Lightning.
That's a good point, I guess they could always introduce the Amazons without getting into some of the crazier aspects of them.
I would love to see the Arrowverse take on Wonder Woman.

Black Lightning Season 2 - previously available only as a manufactured-on-demand DVD set :shifty: - has FINALLY been announced for Blu-ray release from Warner Archive. With luck, this means an announcement of a Season 3 Blu-ray release will follow, and without similar delay.

ETA: And the other shoe fuckin’ drops! Season 3 Blu announced as well! :techman::techman::techman:

Season 3 is really nice IMO.

By the way Music from the Hearts of Space had a very nice episode called “Deep Dub”

Having characters deal with each other wordlessly to Afrofuturist illbient is something I would love to see.

One movie that may be of interest was called
The Limits of Control...

One breath of fresh air where CW superhero TV is concerned!
Superman & Lois? ;)

Actually, I'm totally psyched for Black Lightning's return. (And I got my Season 2 and 3 Blu-ray sets this week. :techman:) I'm seriously thinking about bailing on most of the CW superhero shows this season -- there's just so many, and several of them feel more like an obligation than a pleasure at this point. But BL, S&L, and Supergirl will always be appointment TV in my house.

Very cool! Khalil’s a great character. Of course, that’s true of the entire Black Lightning cast — I’d be interested in a spinoff featuring any one of them. Hopefully the Akils will remain in charge of the new show as well, if it goes to series.

I really liked what they did with Khalil the last couple season, and would happily watch a spin-off focused on him.

I like his character a lot. I hope the show picks up on the themes from Black Lightning and actually takes them to a more real-world style of show. I am thinking something closer to the Marvel Netflix series in tone albeit lighter on the graphic violence.

Just a reminder, this is just going to be a backdoor pilot shown as part of next season, so there's at least a 50/50 chance we won't get anything more than that one episode.
If wonder if they'll have Khalil move back to Freeland if it doesn't get picked up or if that'll be the last we see of him no matter what?

^ True -- it could end up being BL's version of Green Arrow and the Canaries (which gives every indication of having died on the vine).

The fact -- genuinely surprising to me -- that even TG1 is "eh" on the Painkiller spinoff concept makes me wonder about its potential.

Not surprised to hear that, she was getting to be a pretty big part of the show last season.

Even if they don't change the show's title, I could see them using that as an episode title. Or at least The Outsiders.
