I’m getting a suicide cult vibe from the two people Morgan remanded into his majesty’s permanent custody...
I think almost TOO quickly. We saw them like what, twice for less than 2 minutes previously?
Wonder how they will "grow the cult", as they were our main conenction to them.
Fear the Walking Dead
Season 6 / Episode 4 - "The Key"
John Dorie / June: Settled into his role as a Ranger in no time at all (I believe he said he's been there for 246 days, so that's a major time jump from the other WD series), to the point of seeing Virginia's set-up as acceptably functional. Similar to Rick Grimes when Deanna wanted him to become Alexandria's police officer (TWD - 5B), John takes his job seriously...sans the "who do i have to kill" ideas expressed by Rick.
The problem with his investigative curiosity is that he was not a one-man police precinct, and lacks back-up from anyone--including "Endgame Strand," so his pursuit of the truth and/or Virginia's scheming seems like he's setting himself up for Virginia to turn the screws on him. Knowing that Virginia's reading his letters, he should expect the day will come when she will target June as a lesson--contrary to John believing June's medical knowledge being her life preserver.
John as portrayed always came across as a bit naive/innocent/"simple". I think it's why so many of us like him so much.
John pulling his bad tooth...that read as self-punishment for going along with the official story about Cameron. I do think the exchange of looks between John and Dakota was a bit too built up--like this season trying to fast-track her importance to the overall season arc.
The thing is...i don't think John OUGHT to feel guilty... he was
trying to help Janice, he was just outsmarted. (also in setting her up, by accident).
I really hope June is able to help him work out this guilt.
The result , even if he doesn't like it, will work out best for him and crew when it comes time for fight Virginia.
Morgan: ...a pet dog used for tracking. Works for Daryl, so I guess it will work for Morgan.
...and so ends the "key"/spray paint duo--the leader claiming he did not know Virginia. Although the key has piqued Morgan's interest, I'm guessing he's going to put that on the backburner of his mind.
SO they've been looking for Emile
all these months? Wow... and at this point, is there any useable gas anymore?
These guys seemed liek they were dispatched a bit too quickly.
Well, she was a short-timer on the series; some might have guessed her gun-toting moment from two episodes ago seemed like the kind of spotlight showrunners give supporting characters intended to be victims..and yeah, that's the way it played out.
I had forgotten that was actually in the show last season and had to look her up in a wiki. I thought she was a new but temporary character this season (i.e. a new friend he had made)
Clearly she knew more about all things Cameron and Janice that she was going to let on to John, but being a former cop, one would think he would have arrived at that conclusion early on.
Virginia reading John's letters...what a nasty little freak she is.
i don't see it being freaky as much as wise. If they weren't actually plotting against her, she gathers insight (like she did about John's father) on her people, and at least it seems like she knows where DOry stands.
Apocalypse daily living details: baking soda for toothpaste (a very old, real word use of the product), and dealing with bad teeth. Now that would be a nightmare in a world without dentists.
GRADE: B+.
Not sure if i would rate it so high...i am not sure why, but it didn't FEEL like the best episode. But i could definitely be pursuaded
