I thought they were closer but Freeman waved them off; saying that it was probably a false alarm. The Titan picked up the Solvang distress call (same as the Cerritos), they were just farther out according to the dialogue.

either the distress call actually got out or they had been monitoring the situation with long range sensors after getting the Solvang’s one.One thing that bugged me. How did Riker know when to come and know they were Pakleds? They say that their distress call didn’t get out.
Speaking of sensors, they should have detected the debris long before they warped in. It was very JJ Trek that. Confusing warp with hyperspaceeither the distress call actually got out or they had been monitoring the situation with long range sensors after getting the Solvang’s one.
yes, that was very annoying. Unfortunately seems to be the new norm also on Picard and discovery (but not on the rest of lower decks)Speaking of sensors, they should have detected the debris long before they warped in. It was very JJ Trek that. Confusing warp with hyperspace
Sensors have always worked as a plot device.Speaking of sensors, they should have detected the debris long before they warped in. It was very JJ Trek that. Confusing warp with hyperspace
The majority of the people voted, myself included, gave this episode a "10." Are the writers of Discovery and Picard kicking themselves after seeing an animated Trek show, of all shows, was able to deliver a season finale that gave us character development for our main characters from the beginning of the season to the end (well, maybe not so much for Tendi), the correct use of the Riker/Troi cameo (and the ship they arrived in, and the music that accompanied it), a high-stakes space battle that showed you can do so much with very FEW starships on the screen at once, make best use of the existing Star Trek canon (and not have to reinvent the wheel), and still deliver a highly satisfactory season finale I haven't enjoyed since DS9 went off the air over two decades ago. As others have noted, this was writing quality of a Trek finale fans have wanted for so many years.

Probably not.Are the writers of Discovery and Picard kicking themselves after seeing an animated Trek show, of all shows, w
And I'm sorry, was I supposed to "care" that the Bajoran security officer died?
It’s not the best thing ever but it’s the best thing we’ve got so far in this new era of Trek.
Speaking of sensors, they should have detected the debris long before they warped in. It was very JJ Trek that. Confusing warp with hyperspace

That seemed to me an issue with the map, not the sensors.

Interestingly, the Solvang is a brand-new ship with a very low registry number, NCC-12101 which is even lower than their previous one, the Rubidoux NCC-12109.
What is the "the correct use of the Riker/Troi cameo"?
No.And I'm sorry, was I supposed to "care" that the Bajoran security officer died? I mean what meaningful contribution did he have to the show?
Maybe Starfleet started over in their numbering scheme at some point? Rather than go to six-digit registry numbers.
Less dreary than the Picard appearance, that's for sure.
Stuart Foley from Trekyards makes a big point of the numbers not necessarily making any sense.
A well-made conclusion of a decent season, I just don't like that Mariner knows Riker (Small Universe Syndrome).
