Probably. I thought two people died in the horde, but I lost track of who was doing what, and who the minor characters were.
I don't miss those days at all.

Such days never existed. Main characters and regular supporting characters were almost always killed off in the premieres, finales or midseason episodes. Otherwise, you can go through the majority of episodes confident there won't be any major deaths.
Actually, its not true. They were not the only major non-mid-season premiere/ finale deaths. Others include Dale and Shane (season two), Merle (season three), Mika and Lizzie (season 4), and Bob (season 5).
Shit, I had a brain fart and thought Merle did die in the finale and forgot about the others, forgot about Dale and Shane and didn't even consider Bob or the two little girls.
Still, my larger point is there's rarely any deaths that are truly "surprising." A majority of the time there's usually some sort of indicator that a character is going to leave a show, the actors contracts are typically public information, in some cases an actor being cast in another show or getting a major role in a movie kind of gives it away (like when Sonequa Martin-Green was announced for Star Trek Discovery or Cliff Curtis from Fear being announced for the Avatar sequels). And there is truth to the claim that a majority of deaths do tend to be clustered in special event episodes like premieres or finales. And in a case like Walking Dead which is an adaptation, there are deaths of characters which essentially sync up with when those characters died in the source material. Honestly, I really can't remember the last time a character's death or departure on any show genuinely surprised me.

As for the “stormtroopers” I think they will be good guys. Remember the two women wandering the countryside, where one looked to be a politician? I bet that is her group.
Cliff Curtis was practically begging to leave on every episode of Talking Dead he was on. I think he hated working on the show.

Same here. The problem is that Kirkman's comic book ideas do not always translate well to the TV series because he has a hard time creating believable motivations for why antagonists do...whatever. Despite some interesting moments (mainly centered on Alpha), the Whisperers' embracing of death seemed like a "cousin" to the Wolves' beliefs on killing people who "don't belong" in the world as they see it. Both were death cults and had no rational reason for existing, or even living to see another day. Showrunners might think that kind of belief system makes them a more threatening kind of villain (because they have no limits with their brutality), but good villains must make sense. Evil for the sake of it leaves audiences feeling like they have no reason to care about the conflicts beyond a point-and-shoot the baddie kind of way, and that can lead to serious disinterest among viewers.
I agree in general; however, I give the Whisperers a bye because they were clearly a cult of personality centered entirely on Alpha. Not that I enjoyed watching them, but I'm willing to accept them specifically as presented; i.e. some group of followers who drank the undead Kool-Aid and eventually paid the price. Large enough to threaten the heroes, and no more. Not "the future", not "the end of the world", and never gonna expand beyond what Alpha could personally control.
The Wolves were a lot harder to accept because they had no such leader. People with that mindset should've torn each other apart, not banded together.

That is interesting news, suggesting we're getting flashbacks to Negan's pre-apocalyptic life. An adaptation of the Here's Negan graphic novel, perhaps?
Or, perhaps the ZA is starting to really take a toll on his psyche and he starts hallucinating conversations with his wife, which may be a manifestation of his own subconscious tying to reconcile/atone for all the things he’s done. He may be losing his marbles soon.
That would be a great sub-plot during the final season.
They have ALREADY done hallucinations a few times... i would rather have it him telling flashback stories, or something like that.
There have also been rumours that Dwight is going to be in these bonus episodes. As I doubt this would be the opportune time to do a crossover with Fear, this would likely add further proof they're doing flashbacks to Negan's early days.

I have a season pass on iTunes for season 10. I wonder if I will get the episodes as part of the season pass?
I finished up the season so far this morning, and I enjoyed it over all. I was pretty happy with how they tied things up with the Whisperers. I didn't think they were that bad, although I think they were more interesting in the way what they did effected the other characters, rather than being an interesting group of characters themselves. I'm curious what they're going to do with Lydia now, since her whole thing up to this point was that she was Alpha's daughter.
