Your militia name

So, the Wolverine Watchmen named their militia after a comic character and comic book series, presumably their favourites.
What would be yours? For me I choose the Jughead Veronicas.

FWIW, as a resident of Michigan, Wolverine could very likely be from the U of M Wolverines. In fact, taken like that, the name "Wolverine Watchmen" kind of seems a play on the "Michigan Militia".

My family has a long line of being with Militas, since before the Spanish Civil War - though since we're Leftist.... Though it got odd as the century went on and then the y2k prep scare.... I got addicted to Mountain House that way.

I would take the Rosen Ritter name from LOGH, it's neat enough.

Yeah, without having done any research on the origin of the militia name (nor do I intend to), this is far more believable than that it was a comic book reference. Also, I have to wonder how much Red Dawn figured into the mix of their "inspirations." I'd suspect more than the X-Men. Besides, the comic book character is Canadian. There's nothing wrong with Canadians, but these militia guys were apparently the America, fuck yeah type (not that they would necessarily be particularly well informed about the nationalities of comic book characters or their allegories as marginalized minorities).

That said, does the OP have any proof that the militia used the comic books as the inspiration for their name?

Their plans were apparently quite similar to one of the subplots to the Watchmen TV show.

If their name is from the comics, Len Wein would be spinning in his grave. (Co-creator of Wolverine and editor on Watchmen.)

I've seen it said in a couple of articles but best I could tell they're just spitballing as well, not something that has actually comes from the so-called horse's mouth.

Not all Militias are right wing, and if the US had a proper ReichsBanner and a CNT-FAI we wouldn't be in this mess.

Quite frankly, all secular power derives from force and the use of force. When the Right-wing has the Militias, the Paramilitaries, infiltrates the Law Enforcement, the Courts, the Intelligence Services, the military and government, and the Center and Left voluntarily disarms itself and is disorganized, you do not have a functioning nation anymore, you have a set table waiting to be feasted on when the bell rings.

Pink Pistols, John Brown, SRAs, LRAs, Redneck Revolt, BWDL, ARAs (to an extent), HPNGC...just a drop in the bucket. Enough, maybe, to give some PBs and co. pause, and that's all we need right now. To not look - no, to not be- toothless, defenseless, inviting to be feasted on. Anything less is suicidal. Anything more may be self-destructive. But that's just how nations and ideologies compete, ebb, and flow.
