My incredible enjoyment of Lower Decks has shown me just how much I don't actually care for Trek that takes itself too seriously and has setting-breaking stakes all the fucking time. It's tiresome, and I don't have the emotional capacity to handle tiresome anymore.

Also, Mariner is the best thing to happen to Trek in quite some time. Just saying. She's the perfect lead for a show like Lower Decks.

A Six.

I'm glad so many people are apparently easily gushed and entertained but there's just a lot lacking in the show I need more than pretty pictures and characters who can pretty much do anything they want and characters who're just the butt of all of the jokes.

So unnecessary. If people like something who are you to judge that their tastes are somehow inferior.

Same here. Honestly, Lower Decks just highlights how deeply serious individuals can take Trek and how much that can impact enjoyment.

I know, I'm on a Trek board, I am a total Trek nerd. But Trek is not serious business and it is OK for it to be silly. It's also OK to recognize that a Trek show isn't for you.

Mariner is fast becoming a favorite Trek character. So, that might influence my judgement as well.

I'm going with a 10 for this one. They really did pull out all the stops for the finale

Now I've got that sad Day after Christmas feeling knowing that the season is over. I usually only feel this way after The Venture Brothers season ends knowing it was going to be two years at the most when it would be back. But that's a different conversation now.

Great callback to Landru and the TAs animation style. I know some are saying that they should do the TAS animation style for a time travel episode, but how about seeing the Enterprise come forward in time and and see them in the LD style. I guess that wouldn't be special though, plus almost all of the TOS cast is gone.

Who wants Crayons! as a wannabe artist, that made me happy.

Pakleds are not a joke anymore, they've become downright dangerous. I'm impressed they went as far as they did with the Solvang, and Shax (RIP) Because even though this is an animated comedy; I've learned with other action comedy shows going back to Get Smart, to SledgeHammer, and Archer, you have the jokes and nutty situations, but you don't downplay the danger.

Mariner possibly growing up

how much contraband is on that ship?

BADGEY RETURNS!

Peanut Hamper - what a douche

You make me hard - :guffaw:

poor Rutherford

still have a crush on Tendi

Don't forget the Dr, since she had a thing for Shax after all.

Wolf 359 was an inside job. Isn't that sort of true in a way since Picard was a borg at the time.

We finally see the Titan, and they still have the FC unis. I was expecting to have Riker & co in the new LD style. But I guess different class ships having their own uniform is a new concept being a Disco influence. Or it could go back to TOS and each ships different emblem.

it's been a fun season folks, I'll see you again for Lower Decks season 2.

Ah, Riker (and Deanna) and the Titan. That was my second guess of what established character(s) would swoop in to boost the show. I did actually enjoy the episode, and haven't been that fond of it til now. Anyway, interesting how they eliminated two characters.

Also, gotta love the Starfleet sticker on Landru: "DO NOT OBEY".

Great finale, considering I was finding previous episodes to be getting formulaic. Nice references (like the Mego Spock Helmet). Nice to see the Luna class, which floated just outside canon for years. Maybe we'll see the Odyssey class Enterprise-F? Nice to see these Riker and Troi cameos that don't feel like cheap ratings grabs. No holodeck shenanigans or Troi spending a week on Earth to keep Barclay from swallowing his tongue. RIP Shaxs. And Badgey has become a real Gul Dukhat level asshole.

Also, I hope they follow-up on the Pakleds. Whose arming them? No way they've gotten this good with their "Samaritan Snare". Somebody's giving them tech.

Hardest reality from all this is that we'll have to wait until next April to carve the traditional First Contact Day salmon.
