Spoilers Huge legacy character revealed as Prodigy lead!

Well on the positive side we'll probably get a lot more consistently good characterization for Janeway on a modern children show than it was the case with Voyager.
Sidenote, it seems Mulgrew agrees on this:
"I have invested every scintilla of my being in Captain Janeway and I can't wait to endow her with nuance that I never did before in Star Trek: Prodigy"

Though what I really question is why on earth they are hiring hiring Mulgrew to do voice work of all things...

Edit - at least it's only animated.

But that means we get her voice!

it was seen as a spoiler in the NYCC thread

Well, to be fair now, you posted this thread as is before I said anything about spoilers.

Also, I acknowledged that the information coming out was "public", so yeah...maybe I'm being overly cautious. I can hear that. Casting is not a spoiler, but other things coming out might be.

Didn't mean to make this a whole thing. Enjoy.

But that's silly.

I put the name without spoiler tags in the NYCC thread cause I assumed anyone opening that thread would watch the video or would wanna know what they talked about anyway.

I did not put it here cause some people even consider that a spoiler and it would apparently ruin the surprise for them. Some people avoid everything. And putting it in the title would make it unavoidable.

Let's not derail this any further.

Like I said, enjoy.

I am all for the return of Janeway, but I am super confused how this is all supposed to play out. A group of non-Starfleet teenagers on a derelict Starfleet ship, overseen by a veteran Captain? How does this last more than one episode? Janeway connects with the ship and the teens, subspace messages HQ and relays the situation, another ship comes and tows them home, the end? Janeway's involvement makes this weird...

So, how many episodes before Janeway commits another cold-blooded murder?

I'm predicting they'll save it for the Season 1 finale.

With enough imagination, they can really present anything they want to make this work. On the other hand, if it's just meant to be a fun series aimed at all ages, then we really don't need anything more.

A new series set on DS9 will cause massive nerdgasms! What is Ira Behr doing these days?

On one recent talk with the DS9 cast he said he's working on something, but he's under an NDA and not allowed to tell anyone.

Probably not a DS9 reunion show, unless in its very early stages, otherwise the others on the podcast (Siddig, Visitor, Shimmerman, etc.) would have known about it.

As I said, it works a lot better if you presume it's like a holo-Janeway for that reason. Real Janeway has better things to do than this.

Unless, I suppose, Admiral Janeway eventually gets stranded somewhere in a ship locked in stasis, eventually rescued by the teens. Which could work, but it would seem like too much of a Voyager retread to me.

They keep referring to her as Captain, so either this is set before Nemesis, or they're just saying 'Captain' because it's more familiar than 'Admiral'.

Or it's a copy pf her in some sense prior to Nemesis I suppose.

It's a shame the "Silver bloods" died out in Voyager. It would be a good excuse to set this in the Delta Quadrant.
