Why didn't you put Janeway in the thread title? Casting news certainly don't count as spoilers, it would be literally impossible to talk about any upcoming show without mentioning the main character.

VOY is not my favorite series but Janeway is a good character (for the most part...some odd characterization in the writing) and a very good choice for a show like this. Also, what a cool way to connect the past of the franchise to the future.

Well, I guess this narrows it down in regards to which era Prodigy takes place in. Unless it is in the distant future and in fact a holographic Janeway recreation.

But that's silly. It is literally impossible to keep this a secret, it's not even supposed to be a secret at this point. It was officially announced, she'll be all over the promos when it gets closer to release, everyone will know before the show starts.

The identity of main cast and the basic premise simply don't count as a spoilers. That's like saying Pattinson as the new Batman is a spoiler. Some information is a necessity when it comes to new shows or movies.

There were lots of different holo-Janeways to choose from.

Honestly, it being a hologram - or a Janeway from an ATL - is easier to imagine than it being the real Janeway. It's just hard to imagine Janeway (even if she's retired) having nothing better to do than lead a bunch of teenagers who have stumbled upon an abandoned starship.
