Hope Hicks, Donald & Melania Trump Contract COVID

that time face coverings went from being discouraged by the world’s top public health officials to being encouraged by them

messaging from public health officials was even more explicitly opposed, though. In late February, CDC director Robert Redfield testified before the House Foreign Affairs subcommittee and was asked if healthy people should wear masks. “No,” Redfield responded. The day after that, US surgeon general Jerome Adams tweeted “Seriously people—STOP BUYING MASKS.” Fauci himself, in early March, told a Senate committee that the general public didn’t need to wear them because Covid-19 wasn’t widespread enough.
From a Wired article, and I remember Doc Adams saying Don't bother.
No where in there was a "But Scary Orange Man Said" Its all CDC, Fauci and the Task force and The Who.

And I agree, this is where it went wrong, Should have said, we recomend a mask if your scared of the virus, but please try to not buy the N95 or other surgical ones. It happened anyway, even if they went full gung ho like the past few months on masks, many would be unable to find one.

Robert Redfield

While Redfield has plenty of defenders, many of whom describe him as a brilliant, compassionate scientist, more than a dozen of the nation's former and current top health officials who worked with him over the past three decades tell CNN that Redfield's career has been marked by a pattern of bad leadership, including bullying and putting politics ahead of data.

You seem to be able to process all kinds of nuance when it comes to what you think they should have said, but you seem completely unable to process it when it comes to what they actually said.

And I would like to make it clear unambiguously that you completely misquoted what Dr. Redfield said. He did not answer, "No." His answer is quoted right there in the link that you provided. I'll quote it, just so it doesn't get lost [https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4863997/user-clip-redfield-masks]:

THE ONE COMMENT I WOULD MAKE, BECAUSE I DO SEE PEOPLE FEELING THE NEED TO GO BUY MASKS, I WOULD ASK THEM -- -- AND SOME PEOPLE SCOFF AT ME WHEN I SAY THIS -- WE NEED TO MAKE SURE THOSE MASKS ARE AVAILABLE FOR THE DOCTORS AND NURSES THAT ARE GOING TO BE TAKING CARE OF INDIVIDUALS TO HAVE THIS ILLNESS. AND IT REALLY DOES DISPLEASE ME TO FIND PEOPLE GOING OUT -- THERE IS NO ROLE FOR THESE MASKS IN THE COMMUNITY. THEY NEED TO BE PRIORITIZED FOR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS AS A PART OF THEIR JOB THAT ARE TAKING CARE OF INDIVIDUALS AND OR INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE THIS VIRUS AND ARE IN HOME QUARANTINE FOR THOSE FAMILY MEMBERS. I WOULD LIKE TO PRIORITIZE THE USAGE THAT WE RECOMMEND AND GET PEOPLE TO REALIZE THAT THAT IS WHERE THESE MASKS NEED TO BE RESERVED.

As to what Dr. Fauci said, his remarks are similarly quoted. If you would like to point to a specific remark that he made in the testimony that bothers you, instead of pointing just to the whole thing, I'll look at it. Same goes to what the others said.

And I'll say that so far, in your neglecting of the nuance, you're coming across as disingenuous, just as @Covid-69 said you were posting misinformation. I'll also defer to him regarding any further discussion of these points.

For those who think that lockdowns aren't the answer:

COVID-19 hospitalizations at record levels in Wisconsin, Dane County

A record 714 people were hospitalized for COVID-19 in Wisconsin as of Sunday, with the tally growing more than 2.5 times in the last month and coming closer to what a hospital official said could be "crisis stage."

Dane County had a record 47 patients in the hospital with the coronavirus on Sunday, up from its previous peak of 46 in early April.

Hospitalizations had dipped a bit statewide late last week, but they went up over again the weekend in all regions of the state except for the southeast, according to the Wisconsin Hospital Association. In some places, hospitals have been transferring patients to other facilities.

Ann Zenk, a senior vice president with the hospital association, said Thursday that hospitals were in "contingency mode," using staff from other areas to provide intensive care. “In the next two to three weeks, if we don’t see further slowing down, we could be at the crisis stage” requiring overflow capacity, she said.

The state Department of Health Services has designated State Fair Park in West Allis for overflow capacity. The department earlier said the Alliant Energy Center in Madison could also be used.

As recently as Sept. 5, only 275 patients were hospitalized statewide with COVID-19.

In Dane County, hospitalizations for the coronavirus have nearly tripled in two-and-a-half weeks, going from 17 on Sept. 18 to 47 Sunday.

The record hospitalizations come amid a continuing surge in COVID-19 cases, with the daily average of cases more than tripling in the past month, to 2,400 as of Sunday.

Average daily deaths from COVID-19 are also at record levels, with 14 as of Sunday, the highest since 13 in early June and early April. Wisconsin reported 27 deaths from the coronavirus Wednesday, the most of any day since the pandemic began.

My home is basically at a full-blown disaster level because people refuse to stay at home, wash their hands and wear masks. Fuck this noise.

The reason they said not to wear masks at the start was they thought it was primarily transmitted by touching surfaces then touching your face. They just emphasized that buying up masks would take them away from doctors and nurses.

And Washington D.C. is now a Covid hotspot, simply because of the WH.

Meanwhile, El Covid is trying to paint himself as brave and knoledgeable because he "got it", as opposed to others, who only know it from the books. I can't even.

By the way, when I say we should trust the scientific consensus of the domestic and international immunology and virology experts, I don't mean we should automatically trust without verification the word of Trump appointees like the CDC Director and Surgeon General who are most definitely under more influence to follow what "Scary Orange Man" (and your sarcasm there is bullshit given all the shit he has done) says to lie to and manipulate the public. Doesn't mean that everything they say is a lie or misrepresentation, just that I wouldn't trust their motives as much as I would an international scientific consensus.

The fact that you include two Trump appointees in your example above but then think Trump is somehow unconnected from what they say is laughable.

@Covid-69
Ur Personal opinion.. And don't care.
Will try better to not answering political threads cuz they suck and there populated by people who's minds are set in unobtanium..( all sides) Blah.. Peace.. :techman:

It's my personal opinion that Trump appointees are connected to Trump and that a consensus of hundreds or thousands of independent domestic and international experts is more reliable than two appointed bureaucrats?

If anyone's still under the delusion that Trump gives a damn about anyone but himself:

With Trump's return, risks rise in the West Wing

White House aides have advised President Trump to avoid the Oval Office while he's still infected. But they’re making arrangements for him to work out of the Diplomatic Reception Room, and use it as a backdrop for future televised remarks, two White House officials tell Axios.

Why it matters:
The preparations show that far from bunkering down in the residence until he's well, Trump is considering remaining active while he recovers from COVID. Any Trump movement in the West Wing would create a series of risks for his staff.

A taste of Trump's attitude about the virus played out on live TV last evening as he returned by Marine One at sunset after three nights at Walter Reed: He walked up to a White House balcony, took off his mask for the cameras, put it in his jacket pocket, adjusted his suit, straightened his tie and lingered to give purposeful thumbs-ups and salutes.

"Don’t be afraid of Covid," he tweeted — the exact opposite of what any medical or public-health professional will tell you. "Don’t let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!"

"Will be back on the Campaign Trail soon!!!" he added.

Reflecting widespread dismay among administration officials, a White House source told Axios:

"It's insane that he would return to the White House and jeopardize his staff's health when we are still learning of new cases among senior staff. This place is a cesspool."

"He was so concerned with preventing embarrassing stories that he exposed thousands of his own staff and supporters to a deadly virus. He has kept us in the dark, and now our spouses and kids have to pay the price. It's just selfish."

The big picture: The White House — despite its infinite access to the best resources available — continues to respond to its own coronavirus outbreak about as recklessly as possible, Axios' Caitlin Owens writes.

The White House is doing only minimal contact tracing, and hasn't sought help from the CDC, the N.Y. Times reports (subscription). The White House has decided not to trace the contacts of attendees at last weekend’s Rose Garden event celebrating the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.

Mayor Muriel Bowser said D.C. officials have been unsuccessful in trying to connect with the White House to assist with contact tracing: "We have reached out to the White House on a couple of different levels, a political level and a public health level."

Among those endangered by Trump's approach:

"The White House residence staff members are largely Black and Latino, and often elderly, according to Kate Anderson Brower, who compiled a trove of interviews with former staffers for her book ''The Residence,'" the WashPost reports. There are about 90 full-time ushers, butlers, housekeepers, valets, florists, engineers and cooks.

"For the Secret Service, a New Question: Who Will Protect Them From Trump?" says a N.Y. Times headline.

White House reporters are increasingly anxious and angry, Axios' Sara Fischer reports. N.Y. Times White House correspondent Michael Shear, who tested positive, tells Axios: "My wife has now tested positive for COVID. The collateral damage is going to be pretty significant, I think."

Thanks to Serveaux for originally posting the article.

This isn't people at a distance being killed because of his corruption, ignorance and incompetence, which is bad enough. These are the people who serve him, protect him, advise him, cover him, and live with him every day, and he is doing everything he can to put their lives and the lives of their families at risk. Why would he care about you out in West Bumfuck? He doesn't care about anyone but himself. You are all expendable to him. Your only worth is in how you can be used to his advantage.

Considering the press's virulent hatred of Trump, I think that they would be blasting him with accusations no matter what he does.

Ur Personal opinion.. And don't care.

You understand that the protocols established by NIH, CDC etc. are based on actual published research, right? If someone seriously takes the position that they are wrong, the responsible process would be to do the research and publish the findings. The fact that early recommendations on mask-wearing were revised is evidence of the system working. Using that as some kind of indictment of the CDC is essentially saying decisions should be based on the earliest information only and further developments should be disregarded.

Considering the press's virulent hatred of Trump, I think that they would be blasting him with accusations no matter what he does.

That's a diversionary matter of opinion, but it's not disputing the media accounts. The fact is the White House is not following its own CDC guidelines for contact tracing, which means that people who should be quarantined could be transmitting the infection. The fact is the White House is refusing to provide the date of the president's last negative test, so the window of time that others could have been infected is not known. The White House is acting as if the established public health protocols and best practices for fighting the pandemic don't matter. No argument of media bias can account for that level of irresponsibility.

@J.T.B.
The I Don't Care Was regarding Covid69's opinion of Trump lackeys and him/her not believing them because they are trump appointee's because he is a Bad Orange Man, Even though Fauci has been doing diseases since the 80's . And was making a point that the CDC and The Who ( the medical guys not the Band) , and even St. Fauci have fliped opinions around more than a teen making a pancake.
I do care about people getting exposed, especially those who are susceptible. Has he been perfect? Ah No. Has he been the sole person responsible for 200,000+ deaths? Also no. I believe he has done as good if not better than anybody else could have, even Creepy Joe.

So just clearing up any confusion, won't be posting anymore in this thread. LLAP Ya'll!
