In a Starlog interview, Mike Minor said he was involved with TOS even earlier than the third season, having created the art seen on the bridge screens after the first few first season episodes.

With regards to the TV movie thing, I always thought it was because even though always intended for theatrical release, it was largely made/managed by the Paramount TV movie people.

Did you mean SECOND season? Because if Minor saw Justman in early 67 he was likely too late for the first.

I think that's a mistake. If he meant the first season, it must have been in the spring or summer of 1966. I think the first episode with art on the screens was "Balance of Terror" filmed at the end of July 1966.

This is me badly translating a Ralph Winter memo prepared prior to Star Trek VI which states that Star Trek II cost "minus 400%" compared to the previous movie.

I agree with that. But I wasn't trying to quibble about your word use (figured you'd already had enough of that last weekend ) but only wanted to offer up the actual math for your word usage.

Ah, that makes sense about why you used it.
I'd be interested in knowing if anyone has ever tried to assess the amount of savings recouped by TWOK by using the preexisting assets from TMP. Like compiled a list of the set costs, FX costs, etc.

Never had an issue with how WhatCulture pronounce things, its part and parcel of having multiple actors across multiple series going discussing technobabble and alien names (you just need to look at TAS, where they all seemed to pronounce Orion more like 'Oreon', whilst "The Cage", DS9 and ENT had it as 'Orion').

It's interesting that the "Livermore" warp core in STiD is a larger version of the one pictured on that page. Someone did their homework.

Then someone else did the bridge screen art for Season One.

It seems that I've been mistaken for the past 41 years; from rereading the articles, Minor appears to be talking about art elsewhere on the Enterprise, not the bridge (I wonder who did do the bridge art?).

I enjoyed the info (though the site bombed out three times and I quit before the last one thing). Most filming stories were new to me. Why does @Harvey give "20 years" in Item 17 for the time interval between Space Seed and the movie, when both Kirk/Khan dialog say "15 years" and the real timeline (1967-1982) supports 15 years? I guess that's something I didn't know. The baby character blew my mind! I'm sooo glad it was deleted.
