Filming of Season 2..?

Sir Patrick has said several times that he has no idea when they’ll start shooting, but he has also said that he’s about to do some
work again once he’s done with the sonnets (he didn’t specify what it is tho), so... who knows. Nothing official has been announced.

Sir Patrick did shoot the Uber Eats ads with Mark Hamill (and they WERE on set together) so it is possible, but then, shooting a few ads on one day is much less of a hassle than shooting a new season of a television series for three months or so. I sure hope they know better than to expose him to this kind of risk.

Although I did notice they were standing six feet apart. While that works in a commercial where the two are in a sort of menacing stand-off, I wonder how practical it is to do a show with everyone standing six feet apart while on board a spaceship.

I hope they can start filming Picard again in January and none of the cast will get ill.

Yup, but they also posed for a pic where they stood shoulder to shoulder/back to back. And one of the ads (there’s more than one) has them sitting right across each other. So the standing far apart thing for that one ad seems to have been more a plot device than anything else. I’m pretty sure everyone was tested and quarantined and whatnot before they did all that tho. (At least I hope so!) But yeah it’s not practical at all to have actors standing six feet apart on a set unless the plot demands it. The good people at CBS really have only two options - shoot all the scenes the way they are supposed to be shot or don’t shoot anything at all.

Other shows are filming with the actors not being six feet apart. I assume with rigorous testing.

If they had to keep them apart, though, the La Sirena interior has plenty of open space for that.

Sir Patrick has said that he is against the idea of using the current pandemic as a plot device... which doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen of course. ;) (People really seem to have a somewhat exaggerated image of his influence in the writers room.)
We don't need Picard Season 2 and Star Trek XIV both being about the Pandemic. ;)

It's my understanding that most TV and film productions that are resuming filming are paying to have their cast and crew members hyper-quarantine themselves for two weeks before shooting starts and then stay "podding" amongst themselves, to make sure no one has COVID.

Maybe we can get a StarTrek pandemic; suddenly everyone around the world feels the urge to binge all episodes of every series

Allamaraine! Allamaraine! All the time!

He said it was deeply personal for everyone.

They can move people around with computer software during post-production.

On the latest episode of Fatman beyond Marc Bernardin mentioned that his contracts had finished for S2, he didn’t mention if that meant that the writes room was done or if he had written any scripts.
