What was "The Burn" and what caused it?

So.. Idea.
Those vthat follow Stargate. There was a device, the autero device. That prevented certain species from opening a stable hyperspace window, and exploded any ship trying. And as a side effect blowing up stargates. Similar to turning off the electricity in that one series?

So could a species negate subspace except for themselves with a weapon?

Yeah you had to go remind us of THAT show lol. The one where they shut electricity off everywhere on the planet. Yet no one figured out that things like batteries should work or wires run over magnets as dynamos.... Or did they show that not working too?

well, spoilers, it was a shed load of nanites that stopped the electricity from working, so nothing worked.. and surprised humans and animal life was still alive since we use.. electricity.. as well :)

But they could still use things like Diesel engines if anyone had remembered those. And why muskets when there must be shitloads of regular guns in warehouses all over the place?

Well for the Gun angle, Guns were made illegal in that area, if you had one you were executed. Why the main character had a bow and arrow. You can make ammo without electricity, and there are 400 million guns out there (USofA) so finding ammo would be more difficult than a gun.
Surprised me there wasn't more steam engines, even steam cars. passenger travel on the tracks. Owell.

Not to mention how the hell everyone looks pristine..... And the fat guy shouldn't exist in such a world.

The nanites wouldn't even make a dent in Q even if they were allowed to poke the skin.

An adult Q or Amanda since I like her, could walk around a Borg ship unhindered. I think I'd up the game by taunting the queen
I meant assimilate a human not a Q. Q dont have blood cells or DNA so would be pretty tough to use nanotechnology

Which episode was that? I'm coming up blank.

They should just title an episode called "The Burn" to explain everything. The way Lost did with "The Incident".

Booker: Don't you get it, Burnham? Some men aren't looking for anything logical, like latinum. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the galaxy burn.

Burnham: But President Archer? He always had a good heart...

(Scott Bakula steps out from the shadows with an evil look on his face)

Archer: Ah Commander Burnham, if only that were true...

(to be continued)

No particular episode I was just talking about the show Revolution and how silly the plot is.

And stabs her in the heart......

When Stamets, Reno, and Tilly are interacting with the Future Starfleet Officer, I wonder if she's from a part of the Federation that was unaffected by The Burn?

If it was the Omega Particle, then she (or her parents/ancestors) could've been just outside of its radius. So maybe there's a Starfleet on the outskirts, but they don't dare enter the affected space. Discovery could Spore Jump anywhere, and so they'd be able to interact with that Future Starfleet Officer.

Speaking of that female officer, while she does appear to be human, is it me or does her outfit look like it evolved from the Bajoran Militia uniform? Combined with the new badges being kind of similar to Bajoran badges, I wonder if Bajor's going to be a player in season 3?

So the burn is a pah wraith from DS9 thing? Sisko ditched his prophet duties to play baseball and the burn happened?
