I don't know why Janelle keeps coming back as she keeps getting voted out earlier. She was one of the houseguests that I couldn't understand why they felt the need to come back for a third or in her case fourth time.

I think Janelle’s mystique was because in her first season, the house was split down the middle and the other side was one of the most unpopular groups ever, and she almost made it to the end being the prime target the whole time.

Well, we don't need to worry about her anymore. Good riddance.

I forgot to watch on Sunday. Did anything interesting happen?

Kaysar was nominated and the season continues to move along like any other season, where one massive alliance controls the game and dictates a systematic dismantling of the other side.

I was hoping Kaysar would win HoH. But when those two got nominated, the comments were "These people never talked to me about game". It feels like players who though very likable, but are just not good at the game are being picked off for not making connections.

Kaysar seems like the most genuinely good human being who's ever played the game, so I hope he smartens up and protects himself.

Half the time the early dominant alliance gets noticed and picked apart. Cody is playing just like Derrick right now, but that game if you're not perfect is fragile as hell. I think there's smart enough players in this game to put a stop to that.

Cody has insulated himself well with Enzo and Tyler. Between the three of them and their multiple alliances, he'll go far.

It'll be interesting to see where Christmas aims. How hard she listens to what Kaysar said on his way out. She'll probably go after either Dani or Davonne.

She'll do whatever Enzo tells her to do because that's what Cody told him to do.

I’ve been missing it this week cause I’m on a local trip but read on Wikipedia some cast members were making fun of Ian for being on the autism spectrum?!

I missed Sunday, due to a Harry Potter marathon on TV. So whenever this might have happened, I didn't hear it. I tend to keep one eye and ear on the TV and the other on my computer, so there are a lot of things I miss.

Despite the sophisticated strategy on display, this season feels rather joyless thus far. Am I alone in that impression?

No. There's never any audience on eviction night, the outside world is a scary place, and the houseguests have no idea what conditions they're going back to when they leave. I would bet that place probably gets disinfected daily and everyone would get regular temperature checks. After all, they have groceries coming in from the outside world, not to mention they can't have isolated the camera crew and production staff along with everyone else.

Yeah, this season has been dull so far because it’s so one sided. Cody and Tyler are playing great, but there’s no resistance to have any tension.

The camera crew isn’t in the room with the houseguests, and groceries are a very low odds way of transmitting. They’re safer in there than anyone else in California.

There has been the odd time when a fight has happened, and a crew member steps in to break it up. And the crew has to set up the competitions, so there would need to be a lot of sanitizing going on between the time they finish and the time the houseguests start playing.

Setting up competitions seems like all they'd have to do is make sure everyone wears gloves and masks and they wipe everything down to make the odds very low. Asymptomatic transmission, on a surface, when you're wearing a mask is extremely difficult. I didn't know they had to physically break up fights, you'd think physical fights would get people ejected. They, they must carefully sanitize everything in that case, but still asymptomatic transmission from a single well-tested person with a mask on isn't so easy. I'm 50 times more likely to catch it from a trip to the grocery store.

There really isn't a way to stop these large alliances. The only thing I can think of is having an America's week or something where they play HOH or vote or something. You can't really outlaw alliances based on size or something. This year is worse because these are experienced players. A new cast would undoubtedly have someone get hot under the collar in a large alliance like this.

You can fight against large alliances. It just so happens that all the good players in the house except Ian were in the alliance.

There were 7 good players this season and six of them got together.

You'd think so, but there have been times in past seasons when fights had to be broken up, either by production telling them to step back, go to the diary room, or - at the jury house - production did physically break a situation up, which was shown on camera.

The season where Evil Dick burned Jen's arm with his cigarette (the first season Dani was on; Evil Dick is her father) is one where all kinds of abusive behavior was tolerated. Apparently he could burn Jen's arm, but she was punished for violating the 'have-not' diet (out of sheer frustration at the blatant favoritism, she cooked and ate a turkey burger).
