I really enjoyed this epi. THE DOG and the disconnect aboot Tendi creating a creature about which she’s little familiar makes it even funnier.

Everything else was consistently funny; I really liked seeing all the aliens species again - it’s like seeing old friends.

I love how we keeping getting more and more insight into Mariner. She may act immature but she's very mature for wanting to take time to figure out what she actually wants out of her career in Starfleet.

After really not enjoying the last two episodes as much, this one was phenomenal. Felt like classic Trek the whole way. I loved the gag of the bridge crew being on a super-secret mission about planting saplings, and the view into Mariner’s past was welcome.

9/10 Highest rating I’ve given so far. Lots of fun. I smiled throughout. Just what the doctor ordered.

Looks like Wayne Tech still exists in the 24th Century.
Imagine if we ever get a "Admiral Bruce Wayne" with this StarShip as a nice reference to "Batman the Animated Series" in this show and have Kevin Conroy voice the dear admiral.

Maybe we can get Will Friedle to voice Captain Terry McGinnis as a nice reference to "Batman Beyond"

=D

I do have to say the continued focus on Mariner's "hidden depths" is getting a bit tiresome however, as there are other characters on the show.
Mariner IS the show to me. She has become one of my favorite Trek characters of all time.
Is that when you surprise her and become a hard 10?
:nyah:
I'm going to Hell for laughing at that.

Also, Ramsey was incredibly attractive for some reason. That's an odd thing to say about an animated drawing with a dubbed voice, but it's still true. *shrug*

@Sarcastic Vulcan Salute: Your name and avatar are awesome.

This series has already surpassed several other Trek series, both classic and modern, among my rankings.

As to Mariner's issues with high rank, she'd be a much better fit as a US-style warrant officer anyway, if Starfleet had warrant officers, that is.

Agreed. I thought this was the best episode of the season so far. Much as I adore Shax and T'ana, I much prefer the episodes where the bridge crew are off doing classic A-plot material and we're just bumping around with the LD gang. And Tendi and The Dog were awesome - how the eff did they manage to make body horror so adorable?! 10/10.

I think Mariner would be better off leaving StarFleet and start a life in the Private Sector as her own StarShip captain of a private CMC (Civilian Multi-Role Contractor) where she gets to fly around the Galaxy and help people out the way she wants to.

Kind of like what Captain Rios does, but with her own little ship.

Fascinating things to urinate on, indeed! :rommie: Nice to see so many familiar Trek aliens and a new, Vincent Price-like one! The ship visuals are... well not sure stunning is a good word for this type of animation, but very, very good. I could see an animated series of "serious" Trek if the pandemic slows live action production further. A solid 9 in my book. As it nears the end of it's first season, Lower Decks is upping its animated and scripted game

I think Mariner actually doesn't have a problem. Her problem is that people keep telling her she has a problem. She wants to be an Ensign and do grunt work. It's no different than Ben Sisko's dad wanting to prepare homemade meals for no money.

Her biggest issue is that her opinion of what Ensigns do is....really skewed. She thinks she's in Halo where she's a SPARTAN Master Chief but in Starfleet it's the Captains and Commanders do the alien fighting.

Let her just do her job.

Well, soon after "Arrow" I have another favorite. It had neat concepts, satisfying storylines and jokes and for a once classic Trek references were much more than just characters mentioning the random things.

This is my favorite episode so far. Mainly because they finally slowed down the frenetic pace, felt more like a Star Trek episode. Hopefully it stays this way. Mariner is still a little annoying but the other characters are fine. The Arex type alien was cool.

Gave it an 8. I did like how they mixed up the pairings this time around, Boimler and Tendi, Mariner and Capt Ramsey and her group; Rutheford was kind of on his own aside from the Boimler Mishap.

Another FC Uni. Was that guy a double reference to The Deadly Years (TOS), and Rascals (TNG)

Adorable dog

Love that they keep mining the Animated series for Easter eggs.

A more fundamental question about Mariner: why stay in the command division if she wants to avoid promotion? Maybe I'm weird, but isn't that the implication of a red uniform? A desire to lead?

O’Brian?

Naaa, running your own ship is definitely too much responsibility.

Which is another weirdness if you think about it: this is supposed to be a female dog.
