Boring. And how many times are they going to reuse Tobias’ vfx? If we hadn’t seen it a thousand times, maybe it would be exciting.

As many times as they need to, to persuade someone else to "volunteer" to do replacements.

And that assumes that they're actually interested in the latter.

The smiling fondly while recalling a deadly space battle really gets me.

Alec Peters: "Hey just how much traction CAN I get out of recycling the same VFX footage from 2014 (6 years ago) OVER and OVER. Plus I found the TOS Star Trek Sound Effects CD in the bargain bin at COSTCO for a dollar and this guy trying to sell his Steadicam knockoff rig will pay me to walk around for 2 minutes on my set in my abandoned warehouse if h's allowed to film me with it - and I can edit it together in 30 minutes using the Freeware Openshot editor...Then I can tell backers this cost me $10,000 and make it look like the project is advancing...And have sushi delivered afterwards...SCORE!"

Hmmm, thinking back and six years ago I was still in my first job and now I am in my fourth. Some things have changed a lot but Axanar reminds constant.

It's pretty bad when you can't even pull off two, two word lines convincingly.
And I'm sorry, but the TOS sounds blaring at full volume as the only sounds, is really fucking annoying. They're fine as quite background noise, under the music and dialogue and sound effects, but that's it.

The acting and directing are both awful, but could they not have sent the footage off to someone who knows how to edit?

Basically, the drydock sequence the frame of the drydock is almost identical to the TMP dock. There is no changes to it.

I don't think there are 40-50 years in between Axanar (at least in the original FASA setting) and TMP. It's more like 20 years but I'll admit that I don't follow the project close enough to know if they changed that.

Regardless, didn't they reuse DISCO ships and shipyards in Picard? That difference is 100+ years. Admittedly it was likely done simply to save time/money (the digital equivalent of redressing an old set for a "new" ship bridge) but the precedent has been set in canon assuming that I'm remembering it correctly.
