Only to a degree - Kickstarter i understand and approve, i've participated in quite a few and so far have not been disappointed, i.e. i have received the goods and often enough within the projected timeframe.

After the Kickstarter i would have still supported the game, maybe even invested a little further by buying ships and whatnot if i had been that convinced about the game. However there comes a point when you have to realize something is not right if you're honest - adding feature after feature when you don't even have a stable core much less a working demo that doesn't behave like it's 1995 on an underpowered PC is just not the way to go.

Then there's competitors like Elite which is on the market for years, has nearly all the features SC claims it will have and it's working, was continually improved and expanded and now they will introduce an FPS element soon, which was the last main feature missing yet SC hasn't even approached Beta status.

If after all this you are still spending money on SC i will assume your are a deluded, rock hard fanboy who will blindly follow no matter what and there is no pity on my side.

I guess so. Watching all the videos about this just seems too many people are invested in this and pride or something won't let them leave no matter what.

I play it a lot. It’s in pretty great shape right now. They’ve spent a lot of time building the tools to achieve what they set out. I’m not a fanboy and I’ve only purchased the base game and a ship. I’m not one of these with thousands in the game. I do, however, understand the hype. There definitely has been issues with the development, but I’m also understanding that this is a very different enterprise and the unexpected growth and funding has seen uneasy creep. It’s pretty good as it is already, in 3.10.2

I really do hope they pull it off in the end and create one big immersive experience, i don't believe Roberts set out to defraud people and make off with the money (if so he would be long gone back when the coffers were at their fullest).

However i also think the project suffered from major mismanagement and unnecessary bloat in the early stages - they wanted to do too much too early. I can only return to my worn out example of Elite Dangerous - similar concepts but they worked on the very core first (space travel/combat/trading/exploring) and got that to run well and smooth with a decent amount of ships from the start.

Once that was done they expanded the game bit by bit and kept it engaging for veterans and newcomers alike until the game grew over the years to the state it's currently in.

If Roberts had gone down a similar route and swallowed some of his pride and ego we might be playing SC for quite a while now and be happy about each new expansion.

I plan on trying it myself, after others give it a go and reading the reviews - IF it gets distributed. We shall see...

It’s funded differently to Elite, to be fair. There’s a requirement for it to be released differently. There’s a lot of playable stuff in game now.
