Holy crap, that is awesome! I really like The Rock as an actor, and I like Black Adam, and I love the JSA, so I'm really excited. Plus, if this movie is as good as it seems it could be, it will be the first good use of the JSA in live action (even if just in a limited form) since Smallville. The Black Adam/JSA stuff from the JSA comic (back when Geoff Johns was still a good writer) was great, and I bet it influenced at least some of this (at the very least it had to have inspired Atom Smasher's involvement).

Shazam! 2 panel going on right now. Thoughts:

- Faithe Herman is just the cutest!
- Sinbad (the comedian) possibly in the movie. Hm, Uncle Dudley, maybe?!
- It's weird seeing Freddy Freeman trying to grow a mustache
- Official title: "Shazam! - Fury of the Gods"

I like the title, although I wonder what it means. I was hoping we'd get Mr. Mind, after the little teases in the first movie. I wonder if this movie will have Shazam fighting the gods that make up his name. That's probably unlikely, but Shazam vs Zeus would be pretty fun (especially if they got someone like Arnold Schwarzenegger to play Hercules or Zeus, both of which are part of Shazam's powers).

It feels like, by the time this movie comes out, Freddy will probably be able to grow a ZZ top style beard.

I forgot about that. But, to be fair, you'd think if anyone could come back from the dead it would be a god.

If this was proper Greek mythology, Zeus and all the other dead gods would now be in the power of Hades. Hades, btw, being a Titan, just like Zeus, so Zeus never has had power over Hades and his domain of Death. Now, obviously you could make up something about dealing with Hades to bring the gods back to life, but considering how the WW movie has turned Zeus into Jehova and Ares into Lucifer (and not even mentioning any of the other gods by name), I don't know if WB is really interested in a more acurate depiction of Greek mythology.

To be quite honest, it's been obvious that Hollywood has been a bit hesitant to present any other deities than the Judea-Christian God properly. On the Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes cartoon, Thor had to be called "Lord of Thunder", instead of "God of Thunder", and the MCU, obviously, turned the Norse Gods into aliens. And with WW, yeah, make them the Greek Gods in name only.

Not that it wasn't already pretty much obvious, but Hamada confirmed during a multiverse panel that Reeves is building a separate universe in The Batman.

So The Flash might not be the last we see of Batfleck...

Trying to edit a movie so that it functions like a TV series and then releasing it like a TV series is making a simple straightforward process overly complicated.

So that's totally Keaton's Batman in the artwork from The Flash movie.

So you guys have no idea how happy this makes me. I've been following the DC Movies since 2005, when I dusted off my old VHS copy of the 1989 Batman film and watched it in preparation for Batman Begins. When the latter film released, I was SO disappointed, primarily because the Hans Zimmer score was bland and insipid compared to the stroke of genius that Danny Elfman had in crafting what I believe to be the perfect Batman score. Since then, the Tim Burton era of Batman has been the main point of interest in DC live action films for me, and I kept hoping we'd see some aspect or other of it return in the future (Danny Elfman did indeed return for Joss Whedon's cut of Justice League, which I think I'd like if I ever got to see it but the naysayers have me turned off of it at the moment). As for Michael Keaton, it's good to have the best live action Batman back, and hopefully now the classic Batman logo with the yellow oval will be taken seriously again, and people will stop listening to the "realists" who say it paints a big target on his chest (If you've ever read a comic in your life, you'd know there's a reason why that "target" is there ).

Ok, whew! Sorry, that was a lot more than I was expecting to say. LOL I'm excited, can't you tell?

Remember this part, from when Hippolyta tells little Diana the backstory in the beginning:

"Zeus created beings over which the gods would rule. Beings born in his image, fair and good, strong and passionate. He called his creation: Man."

Wouldn't she be Jesus-like in that case, based on her parentage in the movie? That feels like more of a Snyder thing, honestly, with how obsessed he is with using religious symbolism.

Snyder was a producer on the movie and involved at the writing phase before Patty Jenkins even came on. Not saying this was his doing, he's certainly not the only person in Hollywood trying to put Jesus metaphores into movies, but it's a possibility.

Yeah, in comparison to WW, the "Clash of the Titans" remake was more faithful to Greek mythology. On its own, or even compared to the original, it screwed things up a lot, as well. But, yes, with period fantasy films, Hollywood seems to be largely okay with other mythologies, but in present-day, ... To be fair, though, I haven't seen the Percy Jackson films, so they might depict Greek mythology more accurately, especially considering they are book adaptations.

I haven't seen the Percy Jackson films, so they might depict Greek mythology more accurately, especially considering they are book adaptations.

Percy Jackson does its own thing--their is no Judeo-Christian connection--it is more urban fantasy. These are novels meant for younger readers designed to get them interested in mythology.

Does anybody remember when Xena had an episode portraying Hinduism in the same way it portrayed Greek mythology and then had to run a disclaimer before the next aired episode?

Seeing David Dastmalchian and Michael Rooker in video and panel for The Suicide Squad got me wondering how many actors have done both the MCU and the DCEU. I know there have been a few others, but I'm drawing a blank beyond those two.
For those unaware or who have maybe forgotten, Michael Rooker was Yondu in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, and Dastmalchian was Kurt in the Ant-Man.

Jared Leto was Joker and is now Morbius for Sony. Which isn’t MCU, admittedly, but there has certainly been speculation that after Marvel & Sony kissed and made up over Spider-Man 3 etc that there will be closer links between the MCU and Sony’s Spider-inspired films in the future. If there’s a Tom Holland cameo in Venom 2, I suppose we’ll know for sure.

It was one of a run of four consecutive Hindu-mythology episodes, but IIRC it portrayed Krishna onscreen in a way that some Hindus found disrespectful -- though I felt it was actually the least disrespectful of the four in its portrayal of Hindu myth and culture.

So, just wanted to say, this DC Fandome was a really well-done online event. The panels weren't long enough to get boring, the idea of fan questions and video questions was a great way to incorporate the convention panel feel to the zoom panels, and they - as well as the cosplay and fanart presentation and hosts from all around the world really gave an invclusive feel to it. This was really nice.

At least Andy confirmed Keaton on Vanity Fair with Affleck, before it was speculation he was in talks, so even then it wasn't a done deal.

Also we're not sure how long ago the panel was pre-recorded. (presumably within weeks)

But The Flash is due out 30 years after Batman Returns, which is hard to believe. But the movies have lived on, homaged etc. Before 89 the main point of reference for the Caped Crusader was Adam West, so that really changed the perception of the Dark Knight; stylistically there was definite influence on the animated series. Obviously since Birdman Keaton's movie career has really gone up and up again.

If the 89 universe were ever to come back, I was expecting a comic or animated movie, but this is big.

If Keaton hadn't done it, then what? Bale, Gordon-Levitt in a Beyond-type capacity? Might this had forced the writers to adapt JDM as Thomas. if not, I guess the only two other options would have been Kilmer or Clooney!

i'm suer duper pumped for this!!
