Justice League official "Zack Snyder" cut on HBO Max

So a much better match for the one at the end of BvS, which is good. It's funny to think that this "made for streaming" alternate version will probably have better CGI than the original would-be blockbuster major motion picture.

It really needs to, considering how bad the original cgi is. Putting in extra time and money and not making it look any better than that would just be stupid.

Alternatively they can save money by using the same level of CGI as 3 years ago, so that it all meshes together comfortably.

If they didn't want to spend money to make a better movie, there wouldn't be a different cut to begin with. Half-assing the job by relying on the fundamentally terrible cgi originally released won't do the new cut's reputation any favors.

Snyder has teased a lo-res image of Steppenwolf

It looks about the same as the canon JL film version. Maybe more spikes?

Its interesting to see this kind of thing, which is basically a huge fuck you to jack Kirby's art (and writing, really), while Marvel's Eternals seems to be trying to at least use Kirby's style (as much as you can in live action, at least). The Eternals costume sneak peeks look colorful and Kirby-esque, and we're almost certainly going to see some Kirby style Celestials. The New Gods in the comics were very colorful, with big personalities and Kirby style looks even for the villains. Snyder has stripped both the personality and unique design from the entire concept of the New Gods, and literally no one on Earth would be able to identify this as a New God, much less Steppenwolf, if he wasn't labeled as such. This isn;'t new with him, but its more unfortunate to me based on how much it fucks with Jack Kirby's style.

This is honestly an objectively worse design then Doomsday in BvS, who at least vaguely resembled something that might be Doomsday. This was true of the original JL Film steppenwolf, but it brings that more into focus with that image and with having seen even just a little bit of what The Eternals is doing with adapting Kirby characters to live action.

So, do you like it or not? I’m getting mixed messages here. :)

Got to agree with Kirk which rarely happens. There is little of Jack Kirby in any of this. Yet I expect to hear Zack praise the brilliance of Jack Kirby at some point in the publicity leading to this.

With Stepppenwolf losing his horned helmet when defeated and set back to Apokolips at the end of Joss’ version there was at least a possibility he would look different if seen again. Yes probably remote possibility! But if someone with more respect of Kirby’s designs used him they would of had a in continuity reason to change his dress.

Steppenwolf's looks has been redesigned in the comics for a while now. I love Kirby's designs and creations as well, butr Steppenwolf in the movie looks like the way he is in the current comics.

Rarely do movies and TV adaptations retain much of the comic's original design for costumes. For example, no version of Captain America on screen looks like the costume from 1941's comics, with the exception of The First Avenger's USO costume--which was supposed to be a cheap-looking stage article and not the "real" uniform he wears going forward.

Here it is. Yeah that was... Snyder. CGI is still terrible though.
