Oh, OK.
You sure? You've only had 3 people reply to you so far. You could wait and see if you can get a half dozen explaining it by tomorrow!

Oh, OK.
Am I the only one that's actually glad Jodorowski never got to do his version of Dune? It seems to be held in high regard by some significant quarters of the fandom (for lack of a better term) which just feels bizarre to me.
Don't get me wrong, the documentary of the doomed pre-production of that movie is a good one, but the project itself had it gone ahead would clearly have been a bunch of half-baked, self indulgent nonsensical psychedelic crap with little if any substantive relationship to the novel. It reeks of the kind of adaptation that has always irked me; the kind where the director and/or screenwriter actually have their own entirely different story to tell, but rather than just doing that, they attempt to haphazardly graft it into someone else's material, because the established name recognition is an easier sell.
It's hack writing trying to hide behind the figleaf or artistic interpretation.
For all it's many MANY flaws at least the Lynch version had a grasp of the general plot and a few of the primary themes of the novel.
Honestly? Kinda. I mean, I wouldn't call it a priority, but it sure would be nice to get back to the theatres and see some new movies. It feels so weird, the last time I was to a theatre was February. I think that's the longest stretch I've gone without going to the theatre in nearly a decade, if not longer.Anyone ready to actually return to a movie theatre?
Same here and that includes the near four years I was stationed aboard a Navy ship.Honestly? Kinda. IMO Jodorowski's Dune would have been horrendous, as would have been Ridley Scott's. Then again, the Dune we did get was pretty horrible (again, IMO).
As it is remains a crazy what if that definitely impacted film to come.
So Cineplex is planning on re-opening across Canada for Tenet, which Dune will likely be attached too. Anyone ready to actually return to a movie theatre? I'm going to be passing. I waited a month after the gym re-opened to make sure it wasn't spreading Covid, I will be doing the same with movie theatres.
I was debating going, but then I read an interview with a pair of epidemiologists, and they both said that we should absolutely not be going to movie theaters right now, so that made up my mind as a solid no.Honestly? Aug 31 a theatre only teaser is playing with Tenet described here:
https://insidefilmroom.com/2020/08/26/dune-movie-trailer-release-date/
September 9 the full trailer is now scheduled for release online.
Just reading about the trailer has me hyped beyond what's actually realistic and good
But it's just my luck that i will be gone come September 9th when the trailer hits online without Internet access and will only be able to see it a few days later![]()
Would you have some links perhaps?
Your best bet is r/dune
Mods are already taking them down over there.
As a former moderator, I can say that's greatly appreciated.I intentionally didn't post them here for the same reason. Didn't want the mods having to deal with take down notices.
