Michael’s Art Challenge Thread

What a great idea!
Although, I must admit, I've barely seen any of these shows, so I don't recognise any of the monsters. I vaguely remember an Outer Limits (I think??) episode starring Nicole deBoer as a character imprisoned in a cell with an alien prisoner, but that's about it.
Thank you! The Nicole deBoer episode is from the 90s revival of The Outer Limits, which I guess has been a little more popular here in Europe. The monsters (or “bears”, as they were called by the producers) I'm depicting here are all from the 60s original version of the show. It's great, pulpy sci-fi filmed in beautiful black and white.

I don't know any of them since I've never seen an episode of either of those series.. but cool art in any case. :mallory:

Very nice.

I've not seen many of the b/w era epsiodes, but I do believe I can spot Bill Shatner's Gremlin. At least, I'm sure it was there a moment ago... :shifty: ;)

Thanks for the compliment!

 Yes, that's the gremlin from “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet”, the classic episode starring William Shatner.

To be honest, I'm kinda surprised you guys don't recognize more of these characters. Some of the Twilight Zone characters are so in the public consciousness, you don't even need to ever have watched the show to have seen them before. It has been parodied so much on shows like The Simpsons or Futurama. Oh well, maybe I need to include a key with this. :)

Fortunately I found time this weekend to continue on the lineart and the coloring. I call this finished for now. I don't remember the last time I finished so early with an entry.

Haven't posted in here in a while. I've been experimenting with (mis)using Adobe Dimension to create 3D rendered pieces and I thought I might share a little timelapse video of my process for last month's art challenge.

For those who don't know it, Adobe Dimension is a simplified 3D tool to build quick scenes for product mockups and stuff like that, but it can also be used to create silly spaceships with out-of-the-box models of shampoo bottles, paper bags and books. For someone like me, who struggles with learning actual 3D software, this is really nice, because you can quickly build up semi-complex models and create beautiful renderings with them. It's not perfect by any means, but it's still tons of fun.

Here's my timelapse video:

Haven’t posted something to this thread in quite a while. Here’s something I’ve been working on and off for the past couple of weeks: A set of Lower Decks emoticons, all fully animated and styled after the emoticons we’re using here on the Trek BBS. Each one directly or indirectly corresponds to one of the emoticons.

They presented an interesting challenge, mostly because of the limited pixel space and readability concerns. But also because of some of the custom animation I had to create, mostly for Migleemo, Kayshon and Peanut Hamper. I’d say some of them for sure work better than others. They were a ton of fun to do, but maybe some of you will actually want to use them in your posts, which you are of course welcome to do.

And yes, Rutherford as the love emoticon I pretty much did with @Cyfa in mind.
