I gotta say, I find having AP's face superimposed on all the Orville characters somewhat disturbing, on multiple visceral levels.

In other news, I just again received the "Axanar's Been Hacked" email from last week. Have they been hacked again or is it just an errant automated notification process that misfired?

My apologies. MailChimp routinely sends a newsletter a second time the following day but it's supposed to only go to subscribers who didn't open the first one; people sometimes miss seeing the first one in the mail queue.

Oops! I should have been more clear. This one actually came from Axanar themselves, not your system, Carlos, from when I was a 2014 doner. Been on their list ever since.

How about finishing one fan film before starting another one? Or am I thinking too conventionally?

Alec sees the writing on the wall. His stint in Trek is soon coming to an end and he's looking for a new game to play. He thinks he's playing chess, but he's really only just brought the checkers. If he is, in fact, BFF's with McFarlane, he may actually get more favorable results. If not, then likely not.

The 'Fan Film' isn't the goal for Alec...getting funding is...so yeah, he's realizing his attempt to fleece old Star trek fans has plateaued, so he's now going for Orville fans (and probably praying the Oville S3 will be it's last rumor is true.)

Problem with that strategy is, I suspect (without any scientific/statistical evidence to back it up, mind you) a large percentage of Orville fans are overlapped Trek fans of some stripe or other, an unknown subset of whom may already familiar with AP's shenanigans. This may not be the untapped cash crop he's hoping for.

He still is preying upon the anger of Star Trek fans towards Kurtzman and CBS, which, despite being small segment, appears to be quite vocal and unending in their hatred. So, the Orville might support that since it can be used with the "True Trek" tag crowd.

and now alec is talking about making an Orville fan film. Hope we get Alec Peters vs Micky Mouse.
He really doesn't learn does he, if there's one rule when it comes to this kind of stuff it's gotta be, you don't fuck with The Mouse. They go after preschools for painting Mickey for on their walls. On the other hand, it could be fun watching Disney kick his ass so hard he won't ever be able to sit down again.

Yes, they do. And as horrible as that sounds, they really don't have a choice. Mickey is not just copyright but also trademarked, and as we have talked about in this thread before, trademark laws REQUIRE a positive defense against any and all infringements, no matter how minor the infraction.

And yes, it would be fun to watch Mr. Peters tangle with The Mouse.

Yeah, it does sometimes seem like you could do a Venn diagram of people who hate new Star Trek, people who think The Orville is the true successor to Berman Trek, and people who think Axanar was real Trek unfairly stomped on by The Man with a single circle.

Oh, I understand the reasoning behind it, but I still see that as an example of how seriously they take it. Honestly, they sell tons of official Mickey wall stickers and wall papers, so if you really want Mickey on your wall, you can one of those.
