Got my copy last night and started reading it today. REALLY enjoying it so far. There’s an early moment when they first arrive at Akiron that feels right out of one of the new movies. Seems like a brash decision that the movie Kirk would do

It’s interesting how the tag line says that they are based on the NEW movies. I guess they are using NEW to distinguish the different timeline. Really, it’s been 4 years since “Star Trek Beyond” was in theatres. Not exactly “NEW”.

Given the death counts in a few of your novels and the way people pigeonhole others when that person has done the same thing a few times. It's safe to assume, no, they won't stop questioning if you have a high death count in a story you have written.

I always considered David Mack more the action/adventure guy, as opposed to some sort of "Dr. Death". His Star Trek novels typically have a lot of action in them, which I supposed leads to a bit of a higher death count than other novels might.

And of course the "Destiny" trilogy had a staggering death count--I suppose that's part of it. But that was an epic trilogy, one I couldn't put down.

But regardless I always enjoy his novels. No matter what when you pick up a David Mack novel you know you are in for an exciting ride.

Agreed. He’s by far my favorite Trek author. Many of the other authors put out great books too, but his are the ones I have the hardest time putting down.
No clue why people would complain about his style. Besides isn’t space supposed to be dangerous? I want to read a story that holds your attention that additionally has lots of action, not a rom com.

Is L'Nel supposed to be the Kelvin timeline counterpart of T'Prynn's mother L'Nel who was mentioned in Harbinger (also by David Mack)?

I'm asking because the same L'Nel was already an adult in the 2150s according to the novel Kobayashi Maru, but More Beautiful Than Death describes L'Nel as "young".
