Many youtubers have the same problem.
It's mostly bad preparation. They keep repeating the same things, or don't know what to say, or struggle for words, or simply read articles that we can read ourselves.

A lot of annoyed YouTube behavior has to do with trying to please the YouTube Algorithm, that's one of the main reasons to stretch your runtime out.

So, I loved this episode. Maybe my favorite premiere of the All Access Treks, and I liked both DIS and PIC.

I can't wait for more. The sad bit is these are only 30 minutes (or 22 of actual content), and in the second watch through it goes so fast (because I already know the plot there is less to concentrate on and figure out and it feels like it goes faster). So I am left wanting more new LDS!

The point , I guess is that bridge characters are suposed to be types who in the actual ST series would be center of the attention, while the ensigns would be acknowledged, but mostly existing as cameos. So this is exaggerated situation that wants to bang us over our heads with fact that ensigns should be ones we actually celebrating as our representatives. Yes, it´s probably going to be a little forced.

I thought there was a good balance. Both "teams" felt like they are the heroes. This made me think of who is the actual hero, and I realized the lower deckers don't really do anything to actually save the day. It was all an accident. It really was the experienced senior staff who: held a resistance together long enough, thought to check Boimler's goo, notice there might be some value to it, determine a cure, synthesize it, and save the ship. That they caused the problem in the first place (Ransom, thought it was really the fault of the transporter decontamination cycle failing to detect/prevent the disease that caused the problem) kind of evens it out.

Assuming that the saucer of a California-class ship is as large as that on a Galaxy-class ship, I would assume that Douglas Station is as large as Starbase 74.

What's with Starfleet? Ever since they ditched the TOS movie era uniforms, they've changed them every few years.
Maybe it coinsides with the invention of replicators. You can update every few years without needing to ship gear around the galaxy.

I was a little annoyed with the 2 uniforms in PIC though as I thought the flashbacks would have been much better with the FC/INS/DS9 kit

I thought the whole holodeck scene was pretty funny, including the Olympic bit and the Orion girl's reaction.

Interestingly, had they made it two guys lusting after naked girls, there'd be outrage on social media, but that's a separate conversation I guess.

You are probably correct......

The TNG Season 1 and 2 "pajamas" did manage to last for about 16 years or so in-universe so at least that design held on for more than a few years.

1000% Yes! Loved it!
Sorry but Disco and Picard have been so much of a downer ( There good shows just.. a bit dark, moody, and serious) and this one is just FUN!

That was nice to see. I could see/feel Ensign Orion's "awe" at seeing it looking out the back window of the ship. I mean it's not a sense of a feeling of "going forward" but such a look just gives you a feel of movement through space as opposed to the hyperspace effect.
