It would be cool if they ever did a live action version of Lower Decks as a Short Trek episode. But I suspect it will cost too much. They would have to build some sets and create CG model of the space ship. But the voice actors can probably play their characters, except for the one doing Rutheford that looks nothing like him.
It might be doable if it's just the characters shooting the shit in the ship's lounge. They can recycle the Ten-Forward set that was built for Picard's opening scene.

I'm not sure about that. Eugene Cordero (who I enjoyed in his role in The Good Place) seems to be the basis for Rutherford's look. I mean, it's a simple drawing, but Cordero has the same skin color and hair color as Rutherford. I guess the nose is different, but Rutherford's is a bit generic.
According to this week's "Ready Room" episode, Okuda's (or at least Mike) visited the offices during production, and commented on their LCARS designs and gave tips on making them (colours and such)
Mike McMahan I noticed likes to use the word 'Legacy' when talking about things from the previous series, he says things like 'Legacy sound effects' and 'Legacy characters'.
YES!!!
It'd be especially awesome if they work in the implication on TNG that people go to cetacean ops just to gawk at the dolphins and aquatic aliens who are in fact officers and crew just trying to do their jobs.
A joke I've always wanted, have two humans go to cetacean ops on their date. They talk lovey-dovey nonsense the entire time they're there staring at the aquatics just like they're at an aquarium or something, then just as they're about to kiss, have a pissed off dolphin start yelling at them that this is a designated workplace, and not a mating ground for humans. "How would you like it if me and my mate showed up in the engine room and started making hot, sweet dolphin love on the deck right in front of the warp core?"
Don't forget the apocryphal Medusan navigation center hooked up to the main nav computer. You could have a whole episode with crewmembers going accidentally insane when the Medusan decides to step out of its little box for a while.
From the season trailer: That's the Romulan Neutral Zone on Ransom's map there, right? Remind me again, when was the Hobus supernova thing? Before or after Lower Decks?
One of the reviews in the article said something I found a little interesting: “By its very nature as a screwball workplace comedy, Lower Decks reportedly doesn't have the trademark commentative punch of the franchise's mainstream offerings.”
I disagree with this statement, actually. How many of us have worked in less glamorous positions in a sometimes-vain attempt at climbing a nonexistent ladder? Worse, how many of us have had the accolades of good ideas or effort taken from us by more powerful higher-ups? I’ve personally experienced both of these things multiple times in my career.
Most of us start off as Boimler, young and idealistic, with eyes to the future and full of ambition. Then, the jaded cynicism sets in when you see those above you dump on the “lesser” people, especially those upon whose backs they climbed to get to where they are.
You could see that in Boimler’s eyes when the Captain was extolling her senior staff after he basically saved the ship (albeit accidentally), without any recognition of his contribution, which is why he later decided not to report Mariner. The first seed of bitterness was planted.
It’s an indictment on hollow leadership, a commentative statement if I ever saw one, and one with which I fully identify. Loved it!

This was probably my favorite aspect of the pilot. Star Trek has long overrated the senior staff (obviously a necessity of them being the main cast in their respective shows) while ignoring most of the lower ranking officers and crewmen who do the real grunt work. It's extremely refreshing to see Lower Decks flip this trope on its head.
This show reminds me a lot of Final Space. I enjoyed it. I didn't think I would, but I did. My biggest disappointment about the show is that there is no analogue for Mooncake. Chookity.

Incredibly impressive...I honestly expected about 1-2 million views total, but the CBSAA source video is at 8.3 million and almost 5 million for youtube's video. Numbers are rivaling the 3-day total for the live-action shows. I guess I underestimated the interest.
So, essentially what you're saying is that it's a complete failure and is getting cancelled before episode 2. Got ya. Off to 4chan to post about this. Watch out for more in the latest Doomcock video.
