Spoilers Lower Decks General Discussion Thread

I liked the phaser joke a lot. The rest not so much. I'd love to see:

More self-referential humor. Maybe the Klingons look different and someone says "Those are Klingons?"....cue a Klingon giving a whirlwind explanation of how each Klingon on each series looks different. Maybe done to the theme of 'can can music'....and yet making perfect sense.

I'd also like to see the sci-fi smarts of Rick and Morty. Rick and Morty is a lot of things but it has fantastic Sci-Fi.

Maybe some guest spots from famous alumni.

Incredibly impressive...I honestly expected about 1-2 million views total, but the CBSAA source video is at 8.3 million and almost 5 million for youtube's video. Numbers are rivaling the 3-day total for the live-action shows. I guess I underestimated the interest.

RAMA

Wow. I’m honestly surprised by these numbers.

Sheer curiosity is going to be great for the shows first episode numbers, at least.

@KennyB , @Michael , some housewarming gifts for your shiny new forum! I renamed this one for its most logical purpose, but it lost its new Spoiler tag in the move.

I also dug up a few oldies to keep the two active threads company.

Enjoy!

I'm kind of intrigued by that cargo bay, what with the rundown shuttle and the surf boards. I'm guessing this is where the ship's trash goes?

Why not both? Maybe someone tried to turn old nacelles into surf boards.
I mean, that's really all warp drive is is space surfing.

Maybe a plot line will be one of the Lower Deck crew is pulling the nacelles off for a surf and trying to replace them before the captain finds out.

Like that time someone I knew decided to go sledding in the summer time with their friends, so they "borrowed" the hood of a parent's car to ride down the rocky sledding hill.

They could take a page from FASA, when junior officers put a still in one of the warp nacelles, where the effects of relativistic time dilation were more pronounced, in order to quickly make large quantities of well-aged contraband. :)

I just noticed we got the Lower Decks forum. That's cool. I'm excited for the series, and I just bought a new 65in TV to enjoy it on. I still loved the whole Captain's log and the blast shield gag from the trailer.

That's stupid.

So of course it will be done.

The trailer makes Lower Decks look excellent. The ship looks great with the new perspectives, the mission is intriguing, and it looks like it might have an interesting mix of humor and characters.

Also, breath of fresh air, the canon looks like it might be pretty solid. The show looks like it is made by people who actually care about and are enthusiastic about what has come before in Trek, and want to expand on it on its terms. If this does extremely well I can see it affecting how future live action Trek is done.

Thank you, @The Old Mixer! Would have been fine with you keeping the Mary Sue thread, though. :shifty:

Ooh, I love that fresh forum smell! I better enjoy it while it lasts. ;)

Some of the humor in the trailer left me cold, but I'm already in love with the way they are packing these shots with neat visual easter-eggs! You can tell that this show is produced by people who at best are in love with the Trek franchise or at worst have really done their homework. I'm looking forward to dissecting the episodes and scrubbing each frame for obscure references. :)

Someone remind me again, where have we seen these tools with the orange tip in the lower left corner before?
