Lower Decks Trailer Analysis

Or the little in jokes on TNG door signs, or the R2 in Into Darkness. There are some things that are just artists having fun. And it's OK to have fun with Star Trek and maybe, just maybe, not take it so seriously.

There's a difference with "artists having fun" between the jokes on the door signs or tiny sight gags here and there and a cinematic visual that occupies several moments of screen showcasing how a component of your entire setting works.

I can ignore the Millennium Falcon in the Earth battle in FC, or that one of Dr. Crusher's cases for carrying medical supplies was a cassette tape organizer I actually owned and was looking at as she was holding hers, or that you sometimes see light leaks through sealed doors that are supposed to be air-tight, unvarnished/painted undersides to railings, obvious makeup prosthetics and so on and so on.

It's much harder to ignore this grand cinematic shot showing you how these people travel between floors -by going through a roller coaster.

At this point it is just mileage will vary. I don't have a better answer than that.

"Mileage will vary" again, that's just not grasping the scale of things. "Mileage will vary" is "your car will get 30 miles per gallon, highway, but it could be 28 if you accelerate heavier than how we tested, or have a heavier load, or whatever."

This is "the mileage between a hybrid vehicle and a full-sized Humvee."

Again, tiny things vs. a completely ridiculous concept featured it seems at least twice that doesn't fit in any realm or sense on the simple concept of switching floors.

No, I grasp the scale of it. I just don't give it that much weight. Again, like BOP's blowing up the same way, the random deck numbering in Star Trek V, Bird of Prey scaling, and the like.

It's a stupid sequence and warrants very little of my attention.

Animation or live action, drama or comedy, I’m just desperate for something engaging from CBS. It has been a long four years on the Trek front.

I understand that’s where you’re coming from. But I’ve enjoyed what we’ve gotten these past four years and I’ve felt they were engaging.

It's pointless trying to argue with a brick wall. One who says the same three words over and over when challenged.

For what it's worth, I completely agree with you. The rollercoaster was ridiculous and stuck out far more than deck numbers or door signs.

So there's this however long it was trailer of a cartoon that's nowhere near release yet, and the series is already condemned and vilified by "the fans" who demand something new and different but must be the same old, same old.

Ok, that's all I need to know. I'll be giving every episode a 10 just to piss them off. :techman:

I liked his TNG Recut parodies.

So good is subjective here.

Picard and Discovery also aren't they only Star Trek series he nitpicks. He has done videos in the past that covered all the series. Though I assume he does mostly DSC and PIC now because it gets the most views, or he genuinely dislikes the series.
