SciFiEric's 2nd Pilot USS Enterprise

I did that by accident once and it saved my bacon when my Enterprise showed up on a comic cover. (I mean, couldn't DO anything about it but I was able to prove it was mine.) Now I do it on purpose.
I also use subtle watermarks and non-random numbers.

I think you're lighting is getting really good. I know you're trying to match the originals but these seem to have an extra pop too then. Very nice.
I was just going to say that these images remind me of the stills of the 11’ studio miniature photographed against a black velvet background that the Smithsonian published after the 2016 refurbishment. In particular, that full-length starboard image of the Enterprise looks so much like the eleven-footer that I had to look twice.

NP. I sometimes put a flaw in something I post online so I can say, see, that's mine.

I've got real subtle watermarks of my initials inside each image. I'm not aware of anyone stealing my images, but I have had a few people attack me by saying that I couldn't have made my own images! LOL! You'll never find them anywhere else. They are all mine.

I remember that.

Oh, you have made me a VERY happy man! Thank you! That is a real compliment!

Pictures! More pictures!

There are never enough pictures of this beauty (or the Enterprise in general)!

:adore:
I'm currently running my fourth attempt at the introductory shot of the Enterprise from Where No Man Has Gone Before. And I mean it is a short animation, to see if I can get close to the look and feel I want. So, more pictures to come! Thank you, Shaw! I appreciate your encouragement!

Ran an animation overnight. This is just one frame. All done in Blender 3D.

My angle for the Enterprise is off, but I don't think it's too bad. At least, I hope not. Thanks for looking in!

I keep wanting to make those four rectangular winders on the forward starboard bow maybe just a tidge bigger and/or further apart. You're sure about the size/placement? (She looks damn spot-on otherwise!)

No, the downside of using someone else's plans. I'll have to go back and look.
Thank you, Professor! I also need to look at the placement of the three forward circular windows.

Yeah, I saw that comment and I agree that they might be a bit too close together, but please take any suggestions I make with a grain of neutronium. I eyeball most of my detailing and I freely acknowledge my Enterprise and Constellation are interpretations and not exact renditions. You on the other hand are sooooooo close to replicating the 11-footer precisely. It's amazing.

Another possible reference (if available) could be Polar Lights 1/350 scale TOS Enterprise. Short of accurate plans it could be the closest thing to the 11 footer.

And remember the 11 footer is an imperfect miniature with production compromises not expected to show up onscreen.

Wow! That is a fantastic compliment! Thank you, Sir.

Of course, I throw my own "logic" into the mix on top of everything. I always make my rectangular ports the same size around the ship ... and the original 11 foot Enterprise had DIFFERENT sized rectangular ports around the ship. Odd, right?

True enough. But I want mine to be fairly close.

I had already embarked on my current hobby years (actually now, decades) ago when a fellow who goes by the handle Vector posted on another board his animation of the Enterprise. It was his version of the opening of The Doomsday Machine.

For a split second when I was watching the film, I wondered where this clip had been all these years and why it was only discovered now. Then I realized it was CGI. That doesn't happen to me too often. For a moment, it was like being a kid again and seeing new footage of my favorite show. That impulse also goes a long way to explain why I enjoyed The Roddenberry Vault videos so much. New discoveries of USS Enterprise footage that explains a lot ... like why the warp domes look SO DIFFERENT in The Making of Star Trek! It was due to a different lighting arrangement in the domes when they were doing their lighting tests. I LOVE finding out stuff like that!

I really like the way your film grain is working out. There's just enough of a motion blur/haloing around the lighted ports that you look like you're posting film frames, rather than CGI renders. Your rendering work gives the whole ship the feel of having physical mass that a lot of CGI doesn't achieve.

That is VERY kind of you to say! Thank you!
