This book is killing me. Is this book skippable or are there major threads that are continued on through to other books?

I don't recall any major things happening in this book that you'd need to have read to understand later stuff, so I think it's skippable (even though I personally really enjoyed it, but tastes vary of course :) )

The events are mentioned in some other novels, plus a location and character return for the Prey trilogy. But for the entire continuation.... Not really.

It has connections to the episode "The Nth Degree." There's not that many books after it in the novel continuity with no more announced books on the way, so I don't see a reason to skip it unless the story concept is unappealing to you (sorry for all the negatives in that sentence).
