Lower Decks Trailer Analysis

Not me. I would go wherever one can go that allows you access to a holodeck, free advanced health care and no daily violence. Also no bills and the food is even free.

Where aliens are constantly seeking you out to kill you, and war is just a star away.

Also, no jokes.

it is a difficult concept.

Of course there is, and its done -mostly- well in the other series without resorting to goofy antics. (ST:V and INS,excluded.)
We have seen goofy antics in Trek before. There is room for it in there.

The humor may not be for everyone (myself included) but this "Trek is all about hope and is serious business" is grim and has all the appeal of giving a bear a root canal.

Why would they have no jokes. They clearly were wise enough to mortalize the comedy stylings of Joe Piscopo and even before he got into his big muscles faze of his career.

I don't know. That apparently is what Trek future means if a comedy like Lower Decks is not allowed.

Also, Joe Piscopo is not exactly the height of comedy.
I like the purple hair guy, the shuttle shield girl, and the cat doc already XD
Shuttle shield girl is my favorite too.

I really enjoyed that trailer. This looks like it will be a fun series. It will be very different, that is for sure.

The problem with them not having comedy is I don't think they have great art in general which is why the look to the past so much in their holodeck adventures. Art almost needs the world to suck in order to give it some deeper meaning and also understandable conflict in which to build comedy and drama. It's no wonder they like to explore space. Human culture got boring and they needed to go find some new fun stuff for people to do.

I do think I would've preferred the Cerritos to have been a TOS movie-era ship. What they're giving us looks a little too advanced to be the worst ship in the Fleet.

I DIDN'T SAY NO COMEDY!!!

Just that THIS type of comedy is too far.

For me.

If you like it, fine, go stroke to it.

But for me its too much and doesn't fit. Heaven forbid I should have my ow giddamn opinion that doesn't immediately love everything just because "Star Trek" is attached to it.

It is a trailer. Might want to actually sample the show itself before completely writing it off. You might be surprised, you might not. But you would actually have given it the benefit of the doubt.

Anyways, can this conversation be moved to the general Lower Decks thread? This one is specifically for analyzing the trailer.
