That's what I've heard. Sad isn't it? It's due to first-day review bombing. This kind of shit shouldn't be happening. I wish the system would flag first-day mass-negatives.

Oh, yeah it's pretty obvious when that kind of shit is happening.
Damn, I am really starting to like Abby and her friends, this was a hell of a move on the creative team's part, and really gives a clear look at just what it is they're trying to see with the story here.
We seem to be finding the characters in a never ending cycle of violence at this point. Joel kills Abby's father, so Abby kills Joel, so Ellie kills Abby's friends, so Abby kills Jesse and pulls a gun on Ellie and Tommy.

Since no one else is posting here anymore, I'll just save my thoughts in one big post until the conversation picks up.
6/25 #1: It dawned on me earlier today, that I think Ellie killed Alice, the dog, when she snuck into the Aquarium. Fuck!
#2: If they make me choose who lives in the conflict between Ellie and Abbie, I don't know who I'm going to choose.
6/26 #1: Damn, every time they make you start to really hate a person or group, they suddenly flip things around on you and you suddenly start to sympathize with them. First they did that with Abby, then the Wolves, and now the Seraphites.
Going through the Aquarium as Abby after Ellie has killed everyone there, is definitely a very different experience from going through it and fighting them as Ellie.
The big confrontation at the Theater did not end the way I expected at all.
Damn, just when I though Ellie was actually going to get something as close to a happy ending as someone who went through what she did could get, Tommy had the show up and ruin it.
#3 Just finished it, and damn that was one hell of an ending. Not at all what I expected, but I am very happy with it.
I hope other people finish soon so we can discuss it.

Oh, I didn't noticed it with that one, but then I never paid attention to anything about that game since it doesn't really interest me. Still sad though, because any legit criticism is drowned out by sjw crusaders.

I plan on getting TLoUII eventually. Just not at the moment.

I think (based on what I've heard - I don't have the appropriate console or game) I can see the ending annoying some people, but from a story point of view, I can see why they went the way the did.

I think if you didn't play as Abby for part of the game to see her point of view, the ending would really annoy certain people.

They would have had to totally change the whole story of the game if they wanted to do a different ending. With the story we got this was pretty much the only way it could end, anything else would have completely gone against everything Ellie had been through up to that point.
I think this is the first game I've played that actually said something about all of the violence you commit in the game.

I'm playing this game right now. I like it but I'm not blown away like I was for the first game. Also I'm not feeling the whole "humanize the other side" stuff, because obviously they're people too just trying to survive. But it's nothing that hasn't already been done before and done much better. This is a kill or be killed world.

I've also started "cheating." If I'm not feeling a certain fighting level, whether it's too hard or too monotonous, I just start running around until I trigger the next scene. Then all those enemies chasing after me just vanish into thin air.

One other thing I liked that I forgot to mention before is the female character, they were pretty much had believable bodies for their roles. There were no overly sexualized, Lara Croft types, and no ridiculously skimpy costumes.

That's what I liked about the Tomb Raider reboot. It toned down everything and made her a bit more realistic.

Yeah, the whole revamp of the character in the reboot was great.

I just reached the end of Jeffrey Wright's character arc. Such a recognizable name for an extremely small role.

Yeah, I was surprised by that too. I was wondering if maybe he was to busy with Westworld to have a bigger role. I was really disappointed he didn't have any scenes with Dina, who was played by his Westworld co-star Shannon Woodward.

Okay, I just finished the game. What would you like to discuss?

I finished it last week and loved every minute of it even as it broke me a little.

For some context I was a single father of a 12 year old girl when the first one came out and a lot of the story beats just hit home for me and now 7 years later as the single father of a 19 year old I found that even more so with this one. Teenage daughters are rough man. Just trying to find some common ground. There's one point when Joel is telling Ellie he found a bunch of those comics she collected from the first one and read all of them and I remembered trying to get in to all those teen vampire shows my daughter was into just to have something to talk about. So there was that aspect of it, but beyond that I enjoyed how this game actually made me feel bad for how much pleasure I took in murdering all those Fireflies at the end of the first one. I'd still do it, but I wouldn't enjoy it and I appreciate the twists and turns they took to get me there. I was prepared to turn the game off in anger when half way through I had to play as the bitch who beat Joel to death but by the end I was just praying they would both find a way to forgive each other and move on and I don’t think I've ever felt that way in a video game before. So kudos to Naughty Dog. The violence in this made me tired and weary and question things about myself which was their point. For me Naughty Dog continues to set the bar for story telling.

Yeah, if you had told me before I played the game that I would enjoy playing as the woman who killed Joel, and actually start to sympathize with her, I would have thought you were crazy.
Did you like it? What did you think of the message it was trying to get across? Did you like playing as Abby and did you sympathize with her?

I thought it was a good game but I didn't enjoy it as much as I did the first game. The message is an obvious one that's been done numerous times before, though not in very many video games.

Abby had a better storyline than Ellie but that still didn't mean I had to care more for her. I had already gone through an entire previous game with Ellie. I know that they're both awful. Naughty Dog took an awfully big risk playing through the three days in Seattle with Ellie and then replaying the same three days with Abby without the player really knowing Abby. But if you think about it, Abby basically had Joel's arc, where she found salvation in a kid.

I hadn't even noticed the parallels with Abby and Joel until I saw someone else point them out, but I actually thought it was pretty cool.

There's plenty to legitimately criticize about this game, but I wonder if the guys losing their minds over it and calling it a 0/10 worst game ever are all misogynists or incels. One site even posted a joke review from the POV of an incel. Pissed off people who didn't know it was a joke, as well as pissing off the incels.
