The Last of Us: Part II

I loved TLOU and the DLC. Storyelling through game at its finest. But I am worried the sequel till be too bleak. In the same way I could handle the bleakness of Bioshock Ininity, but the Burial at Sea stuff. not so much. I don't think I am in a good enough mood to get Last of Us 2, yet.

Unfortunately that's to be expected from the gaming community. The subreddit for the game is full of transphobia because there's a woman who has defined muscles therefore she's trans. Some are posting fantasies about killing the makers of the game. It's like a mini Gamergate without the death threats.

Wow... :wtf: It feels as though these people need to get out more. I have plenty of female friends via my Gym who have well-defined muscles. Missing out on a game because of this seems so childish. They need to grow up!

It's why I largely avoid the gaming community, most of the people in it are garbage from developers to individual gamers. It's hard to avoid on most online spaces unfortunately.

Which character are they talking about?
Well, now I know why Ellie was on foot on most of the clips from later in the game.:weep:
I stopped today at the theater, and now I'm curious what exactly the reveal there is going to mean as the story continues.

I was just looking through the cast list on IMDB and it's got some pretty impressive genre TV vets in the cast.
Jeffrey Pierce (Charlie Jade, The Tomorrow People, Castle Rock) as Tommy
Ashley Scott (Dark Angel, Birds of Prey, Jericho) as Maria
Shannon Woodward (Westworld) as Dina
Jeffrey Wright (Westworld, The Batman)
Emily Swallow (Supernatural, The Mandalorian) as Emily

Yeah, it can definitely be toxic. It's sad that it's come to that. But at least one good thing to come from the gaming industry in recent years is developers starting to embrace the idea of unions. Just a few years ago, we didn't think it'd be possible, but there at least several developers who've allowed unions. So, it's gradual, but I believe it will be more and more important as time goes on.

Abby.

Yeah, it can definitely be toxic.

And it's not that as if loads of gamers are incel spree shooters in the making, it's that they're absurdly over opinionated nitpickers and lack any kind of nuance, so get very good at writing off entire games over trivial stuff that bugs them (and that leaks over into opinions on movies and shows, hence why discourse is going down the toilet there too).

Oh, and they strongly think they know the games more than the massive teams of highly talented, experienced script writers, artists, and programmers, etc. Although raising hackles over microtransactions clogging up the online gaming experience and publishers like Konami being far too lazy are the Jekyl side of the Gamergate phenomena...

Yeah, I've seen some of that behavior on other sites through comments. They are indeed very opinionated. I say, too bad for them. They've made their choice and nobody can make them change it. They'll miss out on other great games due to these attitudes.

Yep, I've seen a lot of that too. Ironically enough, there are a lot of complaints about too many multiplayer games and not enough single-player experiences, but when some good single-player content is released, there are vocal complaints about the contents of those games, as if they'd rather be playing some twitchy cookie-cutter battle-royale. Developers can't seem to win, given the number of years they've given their lives to these projects. I wish this whole GamerGate thing would just die off so that people can just go back to enjoying games for what they are.

She's not even that muscular, I thought maybe later the introduced some huge, body builder type woman or something.
The flashback to the museum is an example of one of the things I like about these games, even as grim as they are, they still manage to find ways to work in some lighter more positive moments.

No, people are just awful.

My game came today (72 hours late) because Royal Mail sucks.

Played first few hours and DAM this game is as amazing as it is brutal.

I've noticed that they appeared to have changed some stuff for the trailer.
In the trailer there's a scene where they show Ellie riding her horse through the forest, but in the actual game Dina is riding with her, and the trailer has the scene where
Jessie shows up in Hillcrest, but in the trailer it's Joel, and he even has the same dialogue as Jessie in the final game.
I wonder if they actually changed this stuff for the trailer just to avoid spoilers, or if they changed their minds on how things played out in the game.
I'm leaning more towards the first one, because some of the stuff that they changed is such a fundamental part of the game, that I can't see them having changed it that late into the production.

You got it in one. I can't believe how self-righteous and pity people can be. I'm surprised Metacritic hasn't done anything to curtail this kind of thing to begin with. Negative reviews shouldn't be allowed to be posted day-of, period.
It depends on the content of the review. Some reviewers actually don't like a piece of media for reasons that aren't driven by some awful agenda. But hating a piece of media because it either has a certain minority group in it or you just assume they were, that isn't really a valid criticism. It's just bigotry.

Well, reviewers, sure. That's one thing as they're legitimate. But random users flooding in to leave negative reviews? That shouldn't be a thing. A flood of negative reviews should be detected by the system and flagged. That's what I mean.

I was shocked to see that it only has a 5.9 on IMDB, I have to wonder if that is also do to the bigots voting low because of their issues.
One thing that keeps sticking out to me with Naughty Games, going back to the Uncharted games, is that they really are some of the best written and acted games out there.
They're some of the few games where I actually look forward to the cinematics just as much as the gameplay.

OK, now they're just being mean.
I just go to the point where I appear to be replaying everything since Jackson from Abbie's perspective. This is a hell of a way to make you reevaluate everything that's happened in the game up to this point.
I know Ellie just killed Owen and Mel at the Aquarium, but what about Manny? I can't remember if Ellie has run into him by the time Abbie's stuff started.
