Spoilers GAME: The Most Disliked Trek Couple -- "PICARD" SPOILERS

Sakonna

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
SPOILER WARNING: The list includes the names of the characters who are romantically coupled in season 1 of "Picard." Discussion of those relationships will be spoiler tagged, but if you don't want to see the names of the characters who are paired, turn back now.

Next up in these elimination games: TREK COUPLES
Or, The Most Disliked Star Trek Couple Or Romantic/Sexual Pairing -- some of these didn't become official couples.

THE RULES. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. Below is a list of couples/pairings from the Trek franchise. Eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed.

Finally, please leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you eliminate another couple.

No tactical voting! You cannot remove a couple just because you feel they would threaten your preferred couple's chance to win.

Thanks to @Farscape One for vetting the list with me. :bolian:
Enjoy! :bolian::beer::bolian::biggrin::bolian:

I loved the chemistry between Sisko and Kasidy, so this is an easy save for me. I remember being so glad when I discovered that Sisko's girlfriend from Way of the Warrior would be coming back.

I struggled to choose my first relationship, there have been a lot of good ones over the years.

Saving 'Miles/Keiko'. I think this was one of THE best and most realistic portrayals of a marriage in all of scifi, and definitely in this franchise.

Wasn't sure if we were saving the most favorite or the least favorite but based on answers above saving Torres/Paris. Absolutely adore them. Thought this was some good consistent writing and realistic as well. Love how the characters made efforts to understand each other's personalities.

It was debated having Kirk amd Carol Marcus due to David being born, but since she requested Kirk be out of his life and they hadn't seen each other in all those years, I thought it didn't really qualify as a relationship, particularly when we see MANY more examples of relationships on screen in more than a single movie or episode.

My next save is Worf/Jadzia. They had a lot of chemistry, and in a lot of ways it was a living case of opposites attract.

That's a very interesting list, it will be interesting to see who "wins"

I'm gonna save Leeta and Rom first. Because, hands-down they are my favourite Star Trek couple, yes they are both a bit dumb, but they are good people, who love each other and form a harmonious relationship. And both of them love and support Nog with all their hearts.

Like a Turtles song...

Data/Yar
While it brings up the point how sometimes machines are preferred, and while the season one use of this pairing is pure cringe*, I was impressed how they took this bit of hideousness and turned it (convincingly) into something bigger in "The Measure of a Man" and subsequent episodes. That takes chutzpah.

* apart from William Ware Theiss's outstandingly vibrant outfits for Yar, which looked spectacular. Or were they for Troi and Yar was just wandering around the ship crews' wardrobe collections, I've seen the episode a dozen times and still can't remember it in clarity, it must have been traumatic apart from the burst of color...

So, about the Turtles...

They do say the aloof types are the best...

Why isn't James T. Kirk listed?

Becuase typing in even the first part of "Kirk/Edith/Shahna/Elaan/Deela/Marta/Rayna/Miramanee*/Marlena/Drusilla/Kelinda/Carol/Gillian/Martia/Areel/Helen/Andrea/Sylvia/Lenore/the outrageous Odona/his ship/Spock" (and that's about 40.77% of the complete and unabridged list) would give anyone the need for immediate rescue carpal tunnel surgery? :guffaw:

* the only love interest that felt natural, combined with genuine on-screen chemistry, but that's not important right now

Saving Laris/Zhaban
because they rock and left me wanting for more. They're fussy and domestic (usually would make me yawn) and awesome ex-Tal Shiar agents and friends of Jean-Look, plus Laris got some snark... What's not to like? Hopefully we'll see more of them next season.

At least once. In a flashback, I think, or maybe it was a dream sequence.

I'll save Quark/Grilka... such a fun episode and I think the whole episode of backstory before "looking for par'mach in all the wrong places" makes that episode even better...

The original is still arguably the best:

Pike/Vina

This is absolutely great off-the-wall, weird science fiction and, as usual, a great way to do romance plots since it's a subversion of the theme: Kidnapped as a zoo critter to be named George and the zoo keepers want someone who will hug him and squeeze him and pet him and pat him and... eh, make some nice innocent TV-G cakes with him. So Pike is given another of his species because humans will oingoboingo with the rest of them at the drop of a hat. Except they don't, as Number One and Yeoman Colt pretty much stood there with as much defiance as Pike as the zoo keeper told Pike about how great their offspring would probably be. (Combination of DNA prevailing, there's gestation and ambient environmental factors to consider as well...) So here comes Vina, with an incredible backstory (and incredible performance by Susan Oliver), who - via mental trickery by the Talosians - has to seduce the Captain... of course, she was badly injured and disfigured in the accident so the Talosians had to try to make her look alluring enough. For 1964, it's a remarkably mature and clinically-driven piece of television. At the end, the Talosians give Vina an image of Pike and tend to her health for the rest of her natural life. (the rehash done as "The Menagerie" is pretty brilliant as well and uses a disfigured Pike, who agrees to return and is given the illusion of health as well as living with Vina - who he did, despite it all, develop at least an emotional attachment for. Both iterations are great stories... "Cage" is slightly better because it's more conventional, but "Menagerie" was still a stroke of brilliance - and for reasons other than just cost savings and on a show that was already given the most amount of money at the time for its setup and first season.

I'll save Worf and K'Ehleyr. K'Ehleyr's intelligence, humor, and strength made her not only a wonderful mate but also a great foil to our stoic Klingon officer. And Michael Dorn and Suzie Plakson played well off one another, showing some good chemistry. I'm still a little pissed at how they killed her off off-screen, though.

I love Kira/Odo, despite initially having one or two reservations about it.

They always had this great chemistry in season seven, and Chimera had the beautiful scene at the end with the two of them meeting halfway. By the time What You Leave Behind rolled around, I was a mess when Odo returned home.
