Sorry guys, I have the whole thing almost done. But I was flooded with work suddenly. I'll have to pick it up over the weekend. It will be done :)

So, it has been a while. I got sick over Christmas and then work just have been crazy. The drydock scene still needs some parts done. I'll get to it soon. In the mean time, I'm trying to get back into a groove. So I decided to tackle an Akula Class proper. Here's my progress:

I had been thinking about doing that shuttle bay in the forward section for a while. I'll use the same idea in the Saladin as well. Hope you approve @Norsehound :) I could not do just a 1:1 recreation from the game. I think it needs to be better designed.

The spot I have the biggest disagreement on the Akula's original design is that photon battery rear section (again, why no rear ports?) so no disagreement there. About the only remark I have on your revision at the moment is considering making the lower pylon a little longer between the photon and warp pylon... perhaps continue the vector of the neck through the photon box and into the nacelle, instead of cutting it back. Maybe throw some neck details from the base of the Constitution there also.

That top pylon is marvelous though :) I don't know why it's that way, it's not practical over a straight version of the Refit constitution's, but it's one of the things that's distinct about this class.

It felt a bit unbalanced when I made it longer, but I'll fiddle with it a bit more. These are obviously just main shapes. Details are coming. I'll probably have some windows there.

And yeah, I didn't want to get rid of that top pylon. It really does make the Akula I think.

Finished the last few touches on the main shape of the Akula. She's ready for details and then texturing.

Yes sir. Let me finish her first though, as those are not very quick to render and I'd rather only do it once :) I'll also produce some of the Saladin later.

    There we go :)

I was wondering how you would handle the impulse crystal... looks like you're keeping the well but removing the crystal?

Not that this is a bad thing... some ships don't have the features of others. This one doesn't have a "navigational deflector" and it doesn't miss anything by omitting it.

Thank you very much sir :)

Yeah, I'm actually thinking of having a few glowing bits there, but they'll be sectioned to reflect the pylon in the middle. It didn't feel right to keep the old impulse engine. Maybe at another moment I might have a better idea than this, but for now it works.

Yikes, it has been 3 months since I last updated. I haven't been idle, thought I had to slow down a lot because of the pandemic. Anyway, I've been working on several different projects, but I recently finally figured out what I wanted to do with the TOS Connie, so the plan for now is to finisher her. In the below images, only the top of the saucer is textured, but the same idea will be aplied to the rest of the ship. A few details still missing, namely windows, but that's all coming soon.

The plan is to finish everything I started. Might take a while though cause these projects are complex. But the Akula is the next one on the list after I finish the TOS Constitution :)

I'll give some updates on the stuff I've been working on. First off, the TOS Connie is kind of halted. No issues or anything, just haven't felt like working on it lately. There's a lot of grunt work coming up (cutting windows, adding details, uv mapping) so I need to be motivated.

So the other thing I've doing is slowly working through the interiors for the Kusanagi. I also updated a few things that I wasn't 100% happy with. First off, originally I had some grills on either side of the deflector. I removed them and added prototype pulse phaser cannons. I just felt like the ship needed a bit more firepower :p

I also changed how the panels were colored on engineering a bit:

I added some more detail on the weapon pod and catamarans. Everything just felt empty. Still need to finish some greebles on the weapon pod, but you'll noticed I added a couple of phaser turrets as well. Also excuse the fact that only one side has the green vent. It's on both sides now.

Finally, I've been working on the interiors. These are all WIP. Conference Room:
