This is wise. Their track record is...well, they have a track record of accurate reporting.

Since it doesn't exist yet, odds are no, you don't. :p

Never tell me the odds! Okay, I guess I don't then. I thought it might be one of those "extra" HBO channels that I never pay attention to. :rommie:

I got the digital version of Season 1 on Amazon video earlier today. I've got some other stuff I want to finish watching before I start it, so it'll probably be a little while. After seeing all of the reactions to it, I'm really looking forward to finally getting to watch it myself.

    Great news:

No mention of DC Universe. It's looking more and more like the service will be phased out.

HBO Max confuses me, I have HBO through cable but I think I will have to cancel it and then subscribe to HBO Max to get the new content? Is that the goal, to cut out the middleman? I guess D+ works the same but I don't think there's was a Disney pay channel.

HBO Max is not HBO, it's just a sister platform using the name for branding purposes. It's like CBS All Access is to CBS, only broader -- a streaming platform for a variety of current and older content from HBO and many other WarnerMedia-owned networks.

It's just that HBO on cable grants you access to HBO Go streaming which has the same content as HBO Now streaming that is separate and standalone. So now HBO on cable gets you HBO Go but it won't have the same content as the separate and standalone HBO Max even though they cost the same amount. I grasp it but it's a little unwieldy.

So unlike free CBS I guess there'll be a mass migration of people off of HBO cable.

I know the official word is that it isn't going anywhere, and I hope that really is the case, as the digital comic library is a huge draw for me and I don't want to lose access to it. That said, the lack of any sort of mention of DC Universe in recent promo material for this show and others doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the future of the service. I guess WarnerMedia just want to prioritize the promotion of HBO Max right now, which is understandable, but it seems like they're burying DC Universe in the process.

So @DigificWriter since you follow this stuff, has there been any announcement of changes in the production of the shows? Like is Doom Patrol going to have the same showrunners and direction as before or has there been any shake up with the shift to HBO Max. Doom Patrol and Harley Quinn have a specific voice to them that I'd hate to lose.

I've seen at least one other article mention it will premier on DC Universe at the same time it does on HBO Max.

I think it's very likely they'll stop making TV shows that are DCU exclusive, but I doubt the service itself will go away.

This is why I keep saying that putting HBO in the name of it is confusing, it makes it sounds like it's just HBO stuff. I really think they should have just called it Warner Max or something more general.

Does the service have significantly more titles than Comixology Unlimited?

DCU's comics library has grown considerably since the service launched, but there are definite gaps. I've never used Comixology Unlimited, so I can't speak to how it measures up. I kind of forgot it was an option at all, so thanks for the reminder. I've been reading comics for most of my life but I've only recently started to embrace digital.
