Spoilers Star Trek Picard Season 2 Hopes and Predictions

Speaking of Guinan, something I've been thinking about that ultimately really isn't very important but will probably result in fan rage and controversy, is the fact that's similar to Brent Spiner returning to play an immortal android, Guinan comes from a species that ages very slowly. Recall that she had not visually aged at all in the 450 years between the old Earth San Francisco parts of Times Arrow and the Enterprise D parts of Times Arrow. Should they explain away the fact that Whoopi Goldberg, and therefore Guinan, has obviously aged just like the rest of us, or should they just ignore it? The last thing I want is for them to use the same CGI techniques that were sketchy enough with Brent Spiner. If they're going to do it, do it right.

Ultimately, it's not something that's going to bother me very much. But I can already see the nerd-rage "it's not my Star Trek /alternate reality" nonsense posts.
If not Guinan, those looking for something to moan about will still do so.

I agree I don't think it would be that noticeable. Certainly not as much as Spinner or Robert Picardo

For the most part, wrinkles are caused by sun damage to the skin, which means that dark-skinned people have a built-in advantage when it comes to aging since the melanin protects their skin from sun damage.

The only significant sign of aging Whoopi has had is she's put on weight. But she's in the company of a lot of people there, and Guinan always dressed in very loose, heavy outfits, so I don't even think that will be all that noticeable.

Her hats will always be wider than any body could be

That's not even a problem, Guinan's an alien not an android. Maybe Guinan decided to have more snacks in recent years.

What if Sir Patrick ended up looking more like Shatner weightwise though? (And this isn't a slam against Shatner, we'd all be very happy if we were anywhere near his physical and mental shape at 89!) Does Picard's android body gain weight if he eats...?

Me neither

The big hats also have the effect of minimising any visible gray hair obscuring another common ageing sign.

I honestly hope season 2 is about the return of THE SISKO. It's about time we brought DS9 into the mix. I know the show is about Picard, since the show is named after him, but still, I would love it!

The return of Sisko is one of those major events in Star Trek that hasn’t been addressed yet. So, its something that I can see happening in the future.

Picard and Sisko haven’t had an interaction with each other since the premiere of DS9, so it would be interesting to see what would happen now.

I'm just curious to see what idea they come up with as far as why these people would still need to stay together after the first season. Because I can't think of any.

Something will happen at the start of Season 2 to keep the ball rolling I guess.

There are aspects of S1 which were not fully wrapped up anyway.

Picard is Soji's only family, Rios needed an idealistic captain to follow, Raffi is Picard's bff, Jurati needs to study Soji

I want to see DS9 again, but it's pretty clear that Avery Brooks has been done with Trek for quite awhile. He wouldn't even appear in the DS9 documentary, unlike every other main and major recurring cast member.

Whenever I see advertisements on CBSAA and they list all the series, it goes in this order:

Star Trek: Picard
Star Trek: Discovery
Star Trek: The Original Series
Star Trek: The Next Generation
Star Trek: Voyager
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Star Trek: Enterprise

I think this is their way of telling us how they see the pecking order of their priorities. So, realistically, I think PIC will continue to follow-up on TNG first, VOY second, and DS9 last.

If I'm wrong, great, but I'm keeping my expectations tempered. I think name-dropping Quark and mentioning Deep Space 12 ("Hey! That sounds like Deep Space Nine! Amiright?!") are them throwing a bone.

At least as far as open references go, this is what I think. In terms of the unspoken, the Federation and Starfleet in Picard feels like what I always imagined it would post-DS9. I didn't expect Starfleet to be the same after the Dominion War. Nothing from what little we saw of the Post-War Alpha Quadrant in VOY or on Nemesis conflicted with what I thought, but Picard proved it beyond the shadow of a doubt. Just swap out "Synth Attack" with "The Dominion War" (so as to not confuse anyone who didn't watch DS9) and, as they say, "a difference that makes no difference is no difference."

Not really.

Not really.

What do you mean? That was the story for Rios they spell it out a couple times. And Raffi / Picard professed their bff feelings in the last two episodes. How can Jurati study Soji better in the lab without Soji there?

Also, awesome Unicron avatar

Rios doesn't really need Picard as a father figure.

And Raffi / Picard professed their bff feelings in the last two episodes.

That consisted entirely of Raffi awkwardly and out of nowhere telling Picard she loves him (which makes no sense because she's despised him for years), to which Picard proceeds to awkwardly look back at her and not acknowledge her response. No wonder she did a 180 and became bosom buddies with Seven instead.

How can Jurati study Soji better in the lab without Soji there?

Um, Jurati can bring her back to the lab? A lab of which is an inherently safer place for Soji to be instead of zipping through space in the La Sirena where any Zhat Vash ship can attack and destroy it.

Also, awesome Unicron avatar

Thanks :)
