JD's Comic Book Thread

Keep in mind that Comixology Unlimited doesn't give you access to everything on Comixology, just a relatively small curated group of titles that changes over time. For Bronze age books you're mostly going to have to but individual issues or collection. They do have frequent sales though. Singles at $.99 and collected editions as low as $4.99.

It's worth noting that DC and Marvel do not offer downloaded "backup" copies. This means that if Comixology ever goes under it is unclear what happens with the books you have purchased.

When one purchases a comic book from Comixology isn't it downloaded to the customer's devices of choice?

You are given the option of downloading them, it doesn't happen automatically.

Comixology books are not downloaded to a PC but they are downloaded when you read them via an app on a tablet or phone. You can have as many safely stored as you have storage space for.

Yeah, depending on how much extra space I've usually got between a dozen or so individual issues, 3 or 4 collections, or some combination of the two downloaded onto my table.

Artist Juan Giménez has passed away from CoVID-19 yesterday at the age of 76. One of Argentina's most prolific comic artists, he worked a lot for Heavy Metal, its original French version Métal Hurlant, and most famously his work with legendary avantgarde writer Alejandro Jodorowski on the series "The Metabarons".

Okay, and just to have a really cool thing in the midst of all these bad news, the pencils of a page from the unpublished JLA/Avengers crossover from the 80s has surfaced online. Behold the awesome art of George Perez:

Was that from Tom Brevoort, he's been sharing tons of rarely or never seen Marvel artwork on his Twitter?

Had to check, but yes, Tom seems to be the source.

Also, since I was asked to, I did blur the portion of that one panel in the Giménez art, hopefully enough to satisfy Google.

I'd love to see a few pros ink this. I recently saw a post by Frank Cho where he stated his intentions to ink an old Bernie Wrightson piece. I love that kind of stuff.

Well, at least that's a tiny bit of progress for Diamond.
Image's new on the other hand, does not sound good.
I wonder if this will end up being the end of some of the smaller publishers? If someone as big as Image is having to lay people off, that's probably not a good sign for the even smaller publishers.
