Spoilers Star Trek Picard Season 2 Hopes and Predictions

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
that shit never made sense imo

Not sure I get why. In a world where there appears to cheap energy and any physical object can be replicated with ease there's no particular reason to think the accumulation of wealth would be important any longer. Wealth is only important because resources are scarce/limited after all, and some method of exchange is needed. Trek is post-scarcity.

Of course, there would still be "type A" people who would be very competitive and driven. But they'd just be driven by different things than money.

Good points!
I would like that, but they have to show us. II think they are trying to sell us that the crew already feel like "family". Remember when Jurati said she was sorry and she had never "had a... crew" or something like that? There was a pause that made me think they want us to think "...family" or at least "friends". Aaand... no. That would need a little more time and more character work, for me.

I was wondering about that, too. Rangers, I doubt. But is Picard still paying Rios, and if so, are the others mooching off him, too? Just how much money does he have?
Will the ship now be registered?
Maybe if there was a situation that forced them to remain together for another ten episodes we might be able to buy them staying together as family. But that would have to be extreme circumstances... And all the extreme circumstances I can think of there would be better qualified Starfleet crew with a starship better equipped to handle the special circumstances.

Regarding your mooching comment, is there a 24th century elder abuse hotline? And does Picard still qualify given his body is just off the showroom floor?

Explore the origins of Vulcan. With call backs to Sargon's people. Which would tie into season one's synth storyline. Tuvok can guest star as the resident Vulcan.
Jurati undergoes "demelding" with the aid of Doctor Selar, which helps exonerate her of the murder charge. The demelding could reveal something that puts La Sirena on the trail of the "proto-Vulcans".

Is it "Money/No Money" reference jar time again already? Man, I think we made it a good 4 weeks.

Obviously there is a lot that could be covered. A return to the nexus, Picard dealing with what happened to him are two things that could be covered.

I think we need to know if this really IS Picard. I know what the writers' intent was, or at least I think I do, but they should explore the idea that this is Picard, and that the "real" Picard did not die. BUT, I only want one episode on that. I don't want an arc on that topic because I want them to move on.

I also think that yes, it can be resolved in one episode too.

In my opinion, I think this HAS to be Picard. There are multiple ways to prove it.

1. Have Dr. Soong transfer himself in a new body. His human body would be alive, but completely brain dead, which will establish that there is only one consciousness. It won't be a copy--it will be him.

2. Have Troi sense Picard's emotions. She will know it's him. She can't read other synths, but she can read Picard and Dr. Soong.

3. Maybe do other tests, like brainwave patterns.

Go through it. Make it crystal clear that we are dealing with Picard, and that could be a very interesting episode as Picard's friends and Picard himself wrestle with the idea of whether Picard is truly dead or alive.

But then leave Season 1 behind.

I would like to see some serious fan service in season 2. That's what it's all about. Bring in as many familiar characters as possible. Make it relevant and important so that while it IS fan service, it doesn't look like fan service. Kind of like Seven this year.

One thing I forgot, even though it may be implied in my "Hopes":

I want to get more of a sense of the universe and as it relates to our heroes. I've already posted elsewhere that I'd like to know more about the current state of the Romulans (aside from the Tal Siar/ Zhat Vash and the Borg Cube project). So if that is still a part of s2 (and considering several of the regulars/ rcurring cast is Romulan, it probably will), that still stands.

The Federation is another aspect. Particularly in regards to the synth ban and our motley crew of misfits. For example, are we to assume the Federation is still a democracy, and if so, how come the synth ban could be lifted so easily? How does it affect the Fed citizens, their view on synths as well as Romulans and thus their view on our crew? Specifically, I believe the ban could not have been lifted without providing the info that the synth were not responsible for the Mars attack. And who was. And that, in return, could at the very least acerberate anti-Romulan prejudice, even though it was just the Tal Shia/ ZV.

And with regards to Picard et al., their involvement in the uncovering of the conspiracy would probably be common knowledge, thus changing how they are viewed (Picard and Raffi with Starfleet, Raffi with her son etc.)...

If they take this tactic it better make some sense otherwise this is a hard pass for me. Fan service has become Star Trek's reason to be and that is becoming a level of bullshit that I cannot handle. I defend Picard and DSC against accusations of being as bad as fan fiction but if Trek is "all about fan service" then that defense is rather mute, to my mind.

I love this idea! Making a connection to the Progenitors from "The Chase" and the Preservers would be awesome too.

There's practically zero chance of this happening, but I'd love to see the second season be a a series of independent episodic stories. Some TNG-style adventures with Picard's new life and crew.

And we need some more guest stars from the 24th-century shows. Especially Beverly-- it's very odd that she never appeared or was even mentioned. She's always been a big part of Picard's life since they were kids. Where is she now and what happened to their friendship? In the same vein, we should really see what Seven's current relationship with Janeway is. And the Doctor. Aside from that, I'll take just about any guest appearance from TNG, DS9, and VOY.

In terms of stories, I'd like to see what's developing on Synthworld, now that their existence is public knowledge and they have a relationship with the Federation, and there's a Borg cube full of XBs on the other side of the hill. Essentially we have a strange new world occupied by two very different nations. How are they getting along?

I would be delighted if Hugh can be restored with Borg nanoprobes or whatever.

I'd love to see Picard being reinstated by Starfleet maybe even as the CIC but I can't imagine that would happen nor would he want this himself. Also that wouldn't work with the rest of the crew!

One of the things that has intrigued me with the synths is on their planet there were what seemed to be a number of different generations/revisions of the synths. There were the guards who looked like the Mars attack synths so are we perhaps to assume that these were fairly low level synths that couldn't really "think" independently. Then there were Data/Lore level androids and indeed slightly more advance versions of such in Sutra and Jana. Ultimately though the only way for them to "reproduce" would be to build more. However with the likes of Soji who is effectively biologically human would she be able to have children? and if so could she have them with an organic species? I'd love to see that explored however I guess that would be too far in the future to explore in season 2.

I wonder if given the revelations of season 1 and Picard's history in archaeology there may be some adventures with him looking into the ancient past and indeed looking into the origin of the super advanced synths?

Of course would love to see the main characters from season 1 being fleshed out a good bit.

- Some sort of acknowledgment of Admiral Archer, the NX-01 crew (including Shran) and the NX refit existing. Even if its just a crew photo, holographic images in a museum somewhere, an audio recording of Archer’s speech at the UFP Charter signing, or recently declassified files. It's just odd that the TNG/DS9/VOY era has been silent on the subject.

Well there are obvious reasons why the TNG/DS9/VOY era was silent on the subject. However, I do believe there was a reference in Star Trek Nemesis. On the screen behind Picard showing the Federation fleet, one of the ships is called the USS Archer.
