What species was Bjayzl?

She can't be Betazoid, because her eyes aren't black enough, so based on her appearance, she could be any one of the following species (shown sometimes to be indistinguishable from humans):
Her eyes are black, even on the out-of-universe real-life photo on page 1 of this thread. The only thing disqualifying her from being Betazoid is her lack of telepathy.

Its possible that she cosmetically alerted herself.
Hope that didn't hurt!
Bjayzl seemed to operate in such a hive of scum and villainy. Her attire did not appear to match established Trek patterns I could recognize (it felt a little Daft Punk-bar from Tron: Legacy), but obviously clothes don't have to match your species.
If she has indeed cosmetically altered herself, maybe her eyes were the first thing? Colored contacts ought to be easy in the future, just like they are now. So the eyes alone don't rule out Betazoid. Now, with her mind-reading lackey: even then, she might need a highly specialized staff member. And can't Betazoids really only communicate efficiently with other Betazoids, or am I getting that wrong?

  • Aldean
  • Ardanan
  • Argelian
  • Capellan
  • Dinaali
  • Ekosian
  • El-Aurian
  • Elasian
  • Gideon
  • Human
  • Iotian
  • Klingon
  • Mari
  • Nyrian
  • Scalosian
  • Serosian
  • Sikarian
  • Takarian
  • Tarellian
  • Varro
  • Vori
  • Yaderan
  • Zeon

Or a cosmetically altered Bajoran, Vulcan, Romulan, Klingon, Trill, Ferengi
Its the late 24th century cosmetic surgery is like going to the dentist

It would be smart for a betazoid criminal to try to pass as a (non-telepathic) human through altering their eyes' appearance. A smart betazoid criminal might even hire a member of a mildly empathic species to further the ruse that the sneaky betazoid couldn't read minds. Then nobody would realize that the betazoid had a hidden advantage.

Humans don’t have completely black eyes regardless how dark they appear. In the right light, they’re brown. The photograph isn’t accurate to life.

Nearly everyone we’ve ever seen in Trek could be someone or something else if we try hard enough.

Didn't really see Deanna other than them both being brunette........she's much taller and Iranian I believe.
I absolutely saw Deanna in her first scene, the styling really reminded me of her. That doesn't mean she has to be betazoid but I did get an "evil Deanna" vibe from her based on her looks and how she manipulated people and empathic abilities would definitely help with that.

Also, her actions seem less Betazoid to me than human. Betazoids would be able to sense the vileness of their actions and be more easily repulsed by them. Humans, well, open your news app.
You assume that all betazoids give a crap about that, just like there are sociopathic humans who are very good at manipulating others and reading them betazoids could be the same, that they know what others feel doesn't mean they have to be emotionally affected by that themselves.

I don’t think I agree with you. Most people aren’t sociopaths or psychopaths. The more we can truly understand each other, the more we’re able to empathize. We usually harden as a result of personal pain and convenient distance.

And I think this idea was echoed in a line about Betazoid society from either (I can’t remember if it was) Lwaxana in “Haven” or Peter David in Imzadi.

But we're not talking about most people, we're talking about one woman and Lon Suder was called a sociopath on screen and he was betazoid, so it's clearly possible for them.

Suder, again, had a rare mental illness. Bjayzl was just an asshole mafioso. She looked pretty human overall. So she bore a resemblance to another woman halfway across the Galaxy and thirty years ago...that alone does not a species make. I’m told I have vampire teeth and can be quite striking with my hair slicked back...doesn’t make me an actual vampire.
