I'm pretty sure this actually is the end of the 24th Century. ;)

I bet the next season takes place in 2400. Before someone says, "Technically 2400 is still the 24th Century!" I'll tell them what I told people in 2000 about the 21st Century. Don't even start... :p

You may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space, the final frontier.

Just happened to start watching some ENT on blu-ray, just these episodes starting with Borderland. You still have time to get filled in on this important ST Picard-related backstory! :D

Indeed. How very disappointing for people who claim to be fans of science fiction.

Sorry for the double post but watching the reactions to the season finale makes me grateful that the Internet wasn't around for the first part of Trek's history.

I've been looking for some timeline detail in the show. All we know is that it's post-13 July 2399, as Picard is over 94 years old.

I'm hoping Season 2 opens on New Year's Day 2400, with fireworks to celebrate the occasion. Or a phaser fight.

Haven't been hanging around these parts as often as in the past as I've been wanting to go in cold to this series and having just watched the finale I have to say that I've been really impressed with this series. Whilst I'm aware it has its detractors (it seems it's impossible to please everyone in any given sci-fi fandom!) I thought it was a fitting reintroduction to the character of Picard and indeed 24th Century Trek as a whole. It was so brilliant seeing Jeri Ryan again and I hope that Seven is going to become a regular member of the crew.

Whilst I don't hate it, I think Nemesis wasn't the best note to end the TNG era on (it's certainly no Undiscovered Country!) and thus I've always thought that it felt incomplete as an era and so I'm eternally grateful to everyone involved and especially for Sir Patrick for returning. Ultimately, if this was to be the definitive ending of Picard's story I'd be happy - they brought some familiar faces back and there were enough references to the past without it feeling too much like a nostalgia trip. They also managed to play with the Trek formula and do something new and original making it feel fresh (and indeed it appears that's why Stewart wanted to come back). Of course, we have two more series to come and so I can't wait, I just hope the final finale is as good as this one was. I liked that they didn't do a Discovery Season One and leave it on a cliffhanger - the ending here felt very Undiscovered Country. I really love the new crew and am looking forward to some non-Starfleet adventures (if indeed Picard doesn't return to his old job).

It did feel quite different and certainly more 'adult' - it borrowed a lot in terms of vibe from more modern shows like Battlestar and The Expanse but that didn't really bother me. Indeed, it sort of felt like Casino Royale back in 2006 - Bond was seen as unrealistic in relation to the grittier spy films and dramas at the time like the Bourne series and so Bond was modernised. I feel the same happened here. Ultimately, I like they didn't play it safe with Picard like the new Star Wars movies did (bar The Last Jedi of course...). One very happy customer here! :)

Am I the only one who didn't know that was Isa Briones singing "Blue Skies" when Data died for good?

    As expected...
    https://www.newsweek.com/star-trek-picard-season-2-release-date-cast-cbs-all-access-1494375

As for when the release date of Picard Season 2 will be, the mass shutdowns of TV productions due to coronavirus has put the future of all shows in the balance. The current season filmed from April to September 2019 and aired in January 2020. However, Season 2 is unlikely to be able to start shooting in April this year, which might push the release date Season 2 to summer or even winter 2021 and beyond, depending on when TV production can begin again in the U.S.

THR reported that the plan was to film Seasons 2 and 3 in quick succession, meaning that although there may be somewhat of a wait for the next season, the season after that might follow in quick succession–though it should be noted that CBS All Access has not yet officially confirmed that Picard has been renewed for Season 3.

Not sure how I feel about the bolded; I'd rather they concentrate on writing one season really well and, well, really "craft it meticulously".

I'm not thrilled with every creative decision, but I completely agree with the "it's a lot better stopping point than Nemesis" crowd.

PIC certainly isn't TNG and doesn't try to be, and that's a good thing. It can get convoluted, but it has a lot of heart.

Ultimately, I'm really surprised PIC even exists, and I'm very grateful it does. It's good Trek.
