Should there be a Star Trek "romance" series?

Good god no! That's not what Star Trek is about.
"Should" is a strong word for art, but I'd say: Why not? Some of the "soapy" DS9 episodes are favourites of me...
Honestly I'd prefer an official star trek porn series to a Star Trek Romance series, way more fun.
Not sure if they'd go down that road since there are already UNofficial Trek porn movies out there... thus the idea wouldn't be new. I hear the TNG parody even has a decent plot, haha. (I'd' check to confirm this, but I'm not the target audience for it...

Ah, but those are one-offs and mixed with a surfeit of other genres within the same show. Something for everybody. Unless one dislikes the overarching theme; some might like individual DS9 episodes but hate it because it's overarching theme is "war stories'. Not "Wil and Deanna french kissing in direct front of camera for one minute in every x episode" just to hit it over the audiences' heads they swap bodily fluids, oh how special. But some people prefer the latter over the former.
I may not be keen on the idea of romance just as much as others don't like other elements of the show. The franchise is big enough, but will one show focused exclusively on just that bring in enough viewers to offset?
Yeah, I think something like Moonlighting, or more recently Bones would work. Both had for several seasons that "will they, won't they" thing going on, which is usually more fun for audiences than immediate coupling. I think Bones would be the better one to emulate, while amusing at times, it wasn't as much of a romantic comedy, which would probably be a better choice for a ST show.
I'm thinking a ship-based, exploring strange new worlds show, with one lead being the captain and the other a civilian scientist (to avoid any potential chain-of-command ickyness).
