Should there be a Star Trek "romance" series?

I've always thought Sub Rosa would make a cracking series.

maybe not Outlander.. but maybe more Moonlighting vibe..
first episode puts them together for some generic reason, on the run, or having to team up for reason #28, something that maybe they were a 1 night stand or did date and broke up for some reason, or 2 people that would never look at each other in a romantic scenerio, but over time fall in love with each other.. plenty of options to get a couple people together..
now the key here is the plot of why there together, the romance would be secondary to whatever job/reason..
Another Key would be the 2 main charactar actors.. have to have such a good chemistry..

lets take this.. direct rip of moonlighting.. kind of..
Lady has a bunch of businesses, but for some reason looses it all.. maybe bet it in a feringi casino.. and looses all but 1 shipping company.. that only has 1 ship, and 1 warehouse/dock and she wants to sell it off, but meets the captain of the ship, and he convinces her to keep the business, and with her being famous for.. something.. they get business of shipping stuff.. maybe starting with runs nobody wants to do.. have the cargo ship be a "bit upgraded" in weapons, sheilds.. maybe certain ferengi having a grudge against the captain..
So in this show, you would have the 2 mains, plus a small crew.. I'm thinking comedy..

There should be romance in any Star Trek series, part of the over all mix. Picard's romance with Vash was fun to watch.

I rushed into this thread thinking that you were referring to Planetary Romance..
That's what I was thinking too...And we could defintely use some Planetary Romance in Trek, imho.

On topic. Maybe not a full "love story" by itself, because those tend to be not very good. But a strong love story as part of the show, between two characters....Yes. Even if older trek wasn't stellar with that...that was 30-20 years ago, newer Trek might pull it off.

I was thinking that they could do something like "Lessons" where the reset button isn't hit at the end of the episode and they actually let the situation play out.

Might but be too grown up for some viewers, the idea of people, especially a Captain, having normal, long term relationships just like normal military personnel in real life. Picard having a functioning dick....

That's not why I watch Star Trek
I don't watch Star Trek for repetitive boring space battles (pew pew), but I understand that some enjoy them, I would personally enjoy more character building people interaction on any Star Trek (or non-Star Trek) show.

Burnham's budding romance with the Klingon Frankenstein monster was one of the things on the very short list of items I liked about STD's first season.

Romance doesn't automatically mean character building, and is often a cheap substitute for character development at times.. I love more character development too, and I think Abrams Trek had some great stuff, as well DSC. I don't think more romance is the answer.

If they go forward with Starfleet Academy, a good half of that show is gonna be who's banging who. And the principle characters gazing lovingly at each other, Clark and Lana style.
