The Romulan Star Empire was, after all, an interstellar empire with colony worlds and military outposts throughout the space that Romulus ruled over. This many armed combat vessels still in existence 12 years after the supernova only makes sense since no warp-capable empire with a large military is going to keep most of its spacecraft home and in the path of something like a supernova in the home star system.

But.....what the hell are they doing? WHAT the hell are they doing?!

I'm 2/3 of the way through the episode and I've asked myself this about four times now. It's switched over from my frustration and anger last week to giddy delight at whatever dumb thing they'll do next.

I'm just at the scene where Soong is talking about the increased urgency for mind transfers, and I'm thinking they're gonna stick Picard in a robot. I really, really hope they do that.

Finally we see a tricorder, although it's an old one. Still a new design!
Her comments on his lines are beautiful.
The silverheads in the vision remind me of the VOY prototype units...
That sistinean creation style shot is cute XD
Why does the primitive synth have a TOS command logo (or Enterprise patch) on its chest? A later gold-skinned one even has it in her eye...
The fox cadaver getting eaten by parasites was worse than Icheb's eye :ack:
Soong hasn't cracked mind transfer, but Graves did decades ago.
Is that a Red Angel Beam (TM) in the preview?

I wonder if that medical tricorder was the predecessor to the ones we see in TNG. We know what tricorders in the TOS Movie Era looked like and this would be a design to fill that gap of about 70 years.

This definitely wasn't one of my favorite episodes. I noticed a pronounced drop in storytelling quality from last week, and on top of that the Seven scenes just felt very rushed as if they were just to acknowledge she was going to play a role in the season finale and then quickly leave her behind until next week.

Who's directing the last part of Season 1? Things seemed to be off after the episodes directed by Frakes have all been aired...

thank the stars chabon will be mostly gone for the next season cause the main plot is so fucking boring thankfully there's only one episode of this sadly it's also written by him so i don't expect much in term of a satisfying ending :sigh:

Soong and all his android children are as creepy as the previous Soong and his Augments or the Soong and his android girlfriend, etc. I assume all the Soongs have been cloned from the original.

The Romulans have every reason to fear them. I imagine Soji will succeed in getting through to the other synths at the last minute in the last episode, though, and they will realize Sutra is misguided and come to a peace treaty with some group or other. Maybe Picard will negotiate with the Synth civilization when they inevitably show up.

But I’m pretty sure Soji will demonstrate that she is the good sister in Romulan myth, the one who does not destroy, and Picard will die in the next episode and Agnes may die to save Soji or Rios. The foreshadowing is like a sledgehammer.

Well, after three great episodes, this one isn't so good. It was all a bit meh. Not a fan of Akiva's direction, but even the writing seemed a bit off.

A pity!

Picard dying strikes me as highly improbable, unless they transfer him to that android body.

Hmmm.... now that I think about it, the latter strikes me as kind of plausible.
